After having several contractor delays and the weather rapidly turning cold, we decided to go ahead and put down our epoxy-coat floor now. The plan was to wait until sheetrock, taping and painting was done, but that’s another delay and a long story. I won a full kit earlier this spring in Epoxy-Coat’s contest and bought another full kit. In hind sight it would have been nice to do the clear coat as well.

I’m not happy with my flake distribution/dispersion… I should have bought or made some spiked shoes as we found out that no matter how hard you throw the flakes they only go so far. But all in all we are happy with the floor; Epoxy Coat is a great product!

Looks awesome man! Almost ready to do mine.....which I hope comes out at least half as nice as your did. I wouldnt let the flake issue bother. What did you do on the saw cuts? They look open?

And I have the same setup with a 2 block foundation with the plate and bottom of the drywall just above. Any plans there? I was thinking of that wallboard that looks like tile. Just glue it up and be done with it, wipes clean. Ive only seen it in white though.

Thanks for the compliment. I’m pretty obsessive when it comes to things like this so the flakes will drive me nuts for years to come. lol

The saw cuts were supposed to be filled. I spoke with Christine @ epoxy coat and she recommended Acrylic caulk and to avoid the DAP Brand. I went to every single hardware and paint store in my town and no one had what I was looking for. With time running out for this project I just went ahead and didn’t fill the cuts. Ironically, the day that I was doing the floor Legacy industrial posted regarding this same subject and has a product designed just for this. I would recommend looking into that if you want to epoxy over the cuts as it looks better than trying to caulk them in. They also have a caulk product for filling in the cut lines after the epoxy goes down which will be the route I will be taking.

The blocks will be mostly hidden by cabinets so I will just be painting those a basic taupe color after sealing them.

Was looking into this too. I have block on the left and right walls, and will also probably paint them with *something*

Ok on all the caulk info, thanks. Hopefully soon I will be posting up my floor masterpeice

Hope mine comes out 1/2 as good.

Just ordered my kit(s) from Summit. I ordered the professional kit opposed to the standard garage kit. Which kit did you do?

Here is a before pic of the back half of my double deep.

Back in the spring Epoxy-Coat ran a contest and I was a co winner of a full kit. I had to buy a second full kit in order to have enough to cover the enitre floor.

Thanks, those pics are of the better looking areas. I was too ashamed to show really bad spots! lol

I'm liking the smaller chips, looks great

So what kit did you use and clear?

I used 2 full kits from expoy-coat , taupe for the base color and went with the medium heavy flake in brown white and black. I did not use/put a clear coat down.

Looks great. Nice job.

Thanks, ggcdad.

to me the clear coat gives a wet look that I really like. with that extra layer it also provides that much more protection.

good luck on your project. :)
