After much research on this site, I decided to coat my new garage with an epoxy system. My garage is a 24 x 42 two story yielding a 1,008 SF lower section completed in Nov. 2010. My primary use is working/storing my rods as well as having a place for the guys to hang out when we have family get togethers, dominos, cards, etc. I have both arc and wire welders as well as cutting torches but will use these outside the garage or at another shop so worrying about splatter will not be a problem. I decided on the Epoxy-coat system and ordered two full kits with a clear coat and a touch up kit per Christine to make sure I had enough. My wife and I completed this over the weekend and we are very happy with the results. There are a few things I would mention that may help others in the future. Don't open the containers in the house, the floor etching in one of my kits had leaked out even though it was in a sealed jug inside a sealed bag, the wife was not to happy. As you can see in the photos, I also used paper along my walls because I am messy. This caused us to have to trim with a knife once the epoxy dried but believe its was worth the effort. Even used the product to give the throne a little bleem. I believe this is a good product and would recommend as a DIY project. We'll wait and see how it holds up.

Looking good. Love the high gloss.

I recently did mine and can see a big difference in the amount of concrete dust that no longer accumulates.

I used sand on the outside step but none on the interior flooring. Suprisingly the flakes give a good measure of slip resistance. We live in Texas and wet floors due to snow/rain are typically not a problem. As a matter of fact we haven't had a good rain in 75 days! May need to come up with a fancy door mat to cover the entry though.

Another tip you may want to try is we used a marks-a-lot to mark off each batch size on the floor. Once we got the hang of the time it would take between squeegee, rolling, back rolling and flaking for the first two single batches we then stepped up to the double batches which help speed things up. My garage is air conditioned so the working time as stated in the instructions was just about right. When I covered the outside entry step the temp was around 100 and the epoxy definitely set up quicker.

Another thing you may want to watch is when measuring don't accidently pour in part A first because the mixture is not 50/50. Also the measuring stick is difficult to see down in the bucket without good lighting.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
