I got this beefy filing cabinet a few years ago from a garage sale for $5. It was made by Benston Mfg out of Auroura IL. It is very sturdy, w/ heavy duty rollers and thisck metal I wanted to see what it would look like bare do I wire wheel and sanded it. It is sealed with Penetrol. I think it turned out okay so far..

I'd be compelled to go back with the original OD green. I'm not a huge fan of the raw metal look on flat panels though. But it's your cabinet and you have to look at it everyday, so it's all about what you like. I would however pull the handles and label frames and sand it all in one direction to give it a true brushed look.

I dug this one out of a dumpster last winter. It still looks just like this. I hope to someday refub it. It will likely end up some bright retro color.

Good luck with yours. I'm sure it will look sweet when you're done.
