My first fabrication: welding cart

For Christmas I bought myself a Miller 211. I've never welded before but wanted to learn.

I looked at the harbor freight carts but they were so cheaply made so I decided my first project was to make me a cart.

My welds **** but I'm happy with it.
I picked up a Lincoln 20 plasma cutter off Craig's list for 400 bucks.
It's total light duty but good for me to start with.

The gas cylinder lifts up and out for removal unusual design, otherwise it looks fine. Appears to be sitting a bit low, got enough room to open the side door to change the filler wire?

Hmmm....
I'll have to check and see if the door opens up. I might have to lean it over to get the door open. Good eye...

It was no problem to lift the tank up and into the hole. It's a nice snug fit.

Never seen a bottle installed that way before. Looks like it would be awkward at least to take it in and out, but you said it works good. I like the pull handle option though seems pretty handy. Maybe add some of those plastic bins to the storage shelf to keep your little things like tips and stuff. Overall it looks like an awesome cart. I'm getting ready to build one myself as soon as I finish my table, and I would hope mine comes out looking as nice as yours. Oh yeah, diggin the diamond plate too, i'm gonna have to steal that one.

Thanks Blackhawk!

Feel free to borrow any ideas......I did. I stole the design off the miller welding forum.
The diamond plate was left over remnants from the metal supply store.
Like I said my welds **** but are getting better. I wouldn't trust them for something critical, but for a welding cart, they should be fine.

Looks good. I built mine from a few different things I had around the garage. It's ugly, but does the job. My first welds ever, so I can always look at that to see how far I've come :)
