Nice job transforming garage into bright and useful space.

With that lean-to behind garage, that would be great space for compressor so hopefully you wired some electricity back there? You could run black pipe steel airline system in main garage - - ie surface mounted up near ceiling with drops at strategic locations (ie bench, up front for hose reel, etc).

Also, I noticed you still have window air conditioner and boarded-up window and thought you could consider cutting hole in back wall and installing that A/C unit in wall of lean-to shed?? Only thing to deal with would be condensation tube to route water out of building. This would get that window operational again for cooling / ventilation purposes. Lean-to shed would get a little warm while A/C is running but wouldn't hurt anything.

In main garage, a box fan either pushing out, or pulling in air at that window would make a big difference for ventilation.

Once your airline system is installed, then you could work on storage shelves up near ceiling (ie unistrut, 2x4, or whatever).

Good luck with finishing garage. Looking great!

That little shed is close to falling over if a stiff breeze catches it. The old owner built it on a self made slab that looks like old mashed potatos, and structurally, it's not very well made. I want to tear the whole thing down, rip up the slab, and start from scratch. That's a few years off at this point, but I do love the idea of using it as a compressor room.

Thanks! Here's Impreza #6

I ended up selling my old 2001 2.5RS soon after. It was my second RS, and I'm sure I'll wind up with another one at some point.

This evening, I built a cabinet.

Then I built a bench.

I have two 6' tall cabinets that will flank the bench, three wall cabinets to put above the bench, and one more short cabinet that will go under it. It's going to be a long weekend.

Wonderful transformation. I especially like the man door in the middle of the two garage doors. I have not seen that done before. I really think it is a great idea. The doors look fantastic as does all the work your doing. I plan to keeping up with the thread and seeing the thing come totally together for you!!

Best Regards

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it! Today, I finished building the last of the cabinets and rearranged them a bit.

The ones I had under the bench quickly became annoying as I would kick the doors when I was working at the bench, so I moved them to the left and placed my mini fridge under the bench along with a narrow 5 drawer cabinet.

All of these cabinets are made by Sauder, and sold through Lowes under the Coleman TD2 brand. Lowes had them on clearance a few years ago, so I wound up getting the two jumbo lockers, three wall cabinets, two base cabinets and the narrow 5 drawer cabinet for around $450. They're particleboard like Ikea furniture, but I reinforced the backs of the large cabinets with plywood and made sure I used Titebond III on all of the joints and screws. They should hold up well. Turns out, Sauder still sells this line under the Tuff Duty brand, and just one of the jumbo lockers sells between $350-400, so I'm very happy with what I paid for everything. ;)

Most of the stuff I had in the garage is loaded back into the cabinets, and I still have plenty of room left over, so I'll fiddle with it over the coming weeks to organize everything in a sensible way. I'm thinking about knocking together a simple shelf/table to place over the Rigid shopvac in the right corner so I can place some things over it.

Time for a well earned beer!

Picked up some cheap LED under cabinet lights at Lowes. They're $18 each, linkable, and have 3 LED's per fixture. I'm going to tuck the wiring away, but I just wanted to get them mounted up.

This all came together nicely. The driveway was a HUGE improvement. I'm jealous that you got the sheet rock up, I've still got my walls looking exactly like yours on the sides. What a difference it makes. Nice Subaru's! I've got an 02 Impreza OBS, had an 02 WRX Wagon. I'm surprised no mentioned it...but nice stool haha

I see what you did there. :) Flat or eggshell might've hid some of that, why go with so much sheen on the ceiling?
I thought that it would help scatter light around the room. I was originally going to go with 8' 4 bulb T5HO fixtures, but I scaled it down. If I was really picky about it, I'd go over it with something to hide it a bit, but after all the work I've done over the last few weeks, I'm willing to let it go. ;)
