Hello, all. I've been lurking around here for a few years. I have recently committed a car guy crime by buying a house with a two car garage. The house was too awesome to pass up, so I'm going to have to add on. I'm hoping to build an additional garage in 2014. I figured I'd introduce myself, since I'll be around here gathering information as I working on my plans.

My current garage is a nicely sized two car at 22' D X 24' W with 10 ft. ceilings and an 18 ft. door. I currently have an E92 M3, B8 S4, and my wife parks the Explorer Sport outside. I'm planning to build something like an additional 24' D X 30" W that opposes the current garage, so that I can separate my cars my wife and son's cars, bikes etc. The current garage will become theirs. My new garage will be semi-detached with 18' "porte cochere" (covered area for car washing).

Here are some photos of the current set-up. Moduline cabinets will be the next addition this year.

Fantastic car fleet. That E92 is one of the best looking I've seen. Are those BBS FI on it?

Looking forward to your build.

Welcome, and I see I'm not the only one to have this issue. Bought a new house, but the garage is only 20x20. Now that we have settled in the house, I've started collecting bids to add a 24x32. If I ever get this going, I'll be starting my own build thread. I've been trolling the threads here for the past few years, so many good ideas, and things I would have never thought about.

Good Luck

E92, one of the best looking cars ever for me.

A few questions:
- Is the BMW your track car?
- What camera do you use
- Why that cover on the BMW while standing in your garage?

Thanks

I took the M3 to the track once. I'm man enough to admit it. I hated it. I won't be going back. I am way too cautious to enjoy the track.

I have a Canon 5d MK II w/ Gitzo Tri-pod and Really Right Stuff Ball Head, 24-70mm f2.8L, 50mm f1.2L, and 70-200 f2.8L IS. I really need to get the new 70-200 f2.8L II IS. I also want to get a prime 24mm.

I am a detail freak, so car dusters are not an option. We have a massive amount of bugs in FL. If I'm out in the garage working past dusk, there ends up being a lot of bugs laying all of the car the next morning. I keep the cars covered so they stay dust/bug free.

I have a system. The car cover is custom for the M3 but fits the S4 nicely. About every week I'll wash one of the cars. The car that gets washed gets covered and takes the week off. The car that was clean gets the cover removed and gets driven for that week. The S4 is my beater, so it's doesn't get covered very often. I usually drive the M3 a week a month. I'm sure many of you are calculating and obsessive like me, so I think can admit my compulsions here.

What brand of car polish or wax do you prefer for your cars?

Nice garage and nice camera to take pictures.

I buy all of my stuff from Detailer's Domain. I don't really use much of the Griot's Garage stuff any longer.

I like Menzerna Polishes. I use Menzerna Power Lock paint sealant then put Collinite 845 wax on top of it. Collinite is like $15 and is pretty much the best stuff I've ever used. I've tried all kinds of waxes, including ones that cost hundreds of dollars.

You definitely have an affinity for Griot's. Also, is it bad that I knew it was an E92M when I saw just the tail pipes?

Garage looks nice and clean. Well done. Bonus points for having the Tour on.

Okay, two things:

1. Did you call your S4 a "beater"?
2. Feel free to send me all your GG stuff!

~ R

Ha...ha. Yeah, it's my mule. It used to do all of the hard work. I recently sold my wife's B8 A4 for an Explorer Sport, so I have not been hauling **** in it any longer.

I gave away most of the Griot's stuff that I don't use any longer. I literally owned the entire catalog until I started to discover other products.

"We got the Clap!" Ha...ha. We seem to be one of the few, "STD-free" young families around here. I knew what I was getting into before we moved here.

This sound as intriguing as your garage!

The Villages is the second largest retirement community in the US with about 100,000 residents. There was a physician that was quoted a few years ago in the local paper about a high incidence of VD per capita in the community. He attributed it to older citizens not protecting themselves due to the lack of pregnancy issues. It spread like wildfire. People now assume that the retirees here are all swinging and have some sort of STD.

A reason why I always thought you had to be 60+ to live in The Villages. Under 60 and they would not let you in....
Real nice cars and nice garage looking forward to further updates.
BTW 845IW is one of the best. Also 915 is amazing.....

Just thought i should bump this thread. After seeing your new updated pics in the night garage thread.

Great use of your 2 car. And two great cars to park in there. Love the ///M..

And yes the villages have that reputation lol it amazes me the little community these retirees have made and enjoy for themselves, it's truly a sight to see. My inlaws have been looking around that area for a while now but dont want to be im the Villages itself.

The thread is a year & a half old. It would be interesting to see if the OP has made the addition he spoke of in his first post, or succumbed to one of the deadly forms of STD's........:dunno:

Ha, ha... No STDs here. I haven't build the garage due too much car turn over. I'm going to dial this 2 car in and probably not build the new garage for a few more years.

We wanted to be sure we were going to stay in this house for a long time before I spend a bunch of money on a garage addition that I will never get back in a sale.

That garage has changed a bit. I had the floors done. That was a huge mistake. I'm trying to figure out what flooring to do. I'm getting a quote to redo the epoxy, and I just discovered Swisstrax Rubbertrax floor tiles. I don't like plastic tiles, so I'm going to order a sample to check it out.

http://swisstrax.com/recycled-flooring.php

I also added some Air King fans. Cabinets are coming in a few months. I'm going to cheap out and get Saber Magnum cabinets and do Lista in the addition.
I have a sample Saber coming in about a week. I'm going to do a 23' array similar to this.

Oh, and I changed out the cars as well.

Very nice set up.

May I ask what brand wall fans you have and how do you like them? Are they noisy?

The are Air King Quiet Oscillating Fans Model 99539. I bought them from Build.com. You need to get the quiet version because the regular ones are end the earth loud. I am able to watch TV with them on Medium Speed, so they aren't too bad. On high, it gets a little loud. They certainly do move some air.
