I'm looking for a bit of advice on adding some electrical for my attached garage. I've got one 15 amp receptical located on the back wall. No sub panel. And the main service comes into the other side of the house, of course.

I don't have much big equipment, my biggest piece is a 10" jet table saw, and everything else is handheld (circ sass, sanders, drills, routers). Most of my work is with wood, but someday I'll,pick up a welder.

Also I may be cheaper than Jack Olsen.

Ideally I'd like to add 5-10 more outlets strategically placed around the perimeter. For less than $100 total.

What do you guys suggest?

a hundred bucks may not get it. i can see two hundred depending on what you actually use. the most direct rout is to use a single gang to 4s adapter box and run conduit to the outlet locations. this won't give you another circuit but it will make that circuit available where you need it.

Most likely that one outlet is on a circuit with some others so it may be a problem adding anymore outlets to the circuit. If you're lucky you may be able to add a few more. The odds are you need to add a sub-panel and as said a $100 isn't going to cut it. You're going to spend $100 on the wire. To add a few outlets off the existing one can be done for $100 or less.

Get bids from an electrical contractors on how you can improve your situation. Get 2 or more bids and let the experts solve your problem with their ideas. Then save.

Rome was not built in a day and it took me 3-5 years to plan for my garage.

Is it finished with sheetrock? If so you'll want that surface conduit stuff. Otherwise you can pop holes thru the 2x4s.

As said above, the wiring will be more than $100. The 8/3 I used a few years back was 69 cents a foot. Subpanel, breakers, boxes, outlets and switches were cheap though.

One hint for the welder: rig your overhead light on a seperate circuit, if not subpanel... probably using the existing seperate wiring. If you light a fire and blow your breaker you'll want light to see to put it all out. :D
