Ya know, if you're going to buy a tool...might as well buy if from the country of origin.

I was in Germany last week on business....went into a hardware store and came out with this stuff.

The Knipex pliers were about $30 US.

I got the wrenches because they were the slim style....don't need them often...but when you do...you do

Screwdriver? It's hard to find good ones in that size. Great for terminal blocks. $5

And, yes, I did get to enjoy Oktoberfest in Munich one night.....it wasn't pretty....

I have a couple sets of Proxxon wrenches. They're nice and thin for tight spots. I wouldn't use them as my primary set, but for a backup, they're pretty decent. I really dislike the comic sans font on them though and it bugs me more than it should.

If you're looking to expand your collection of German tools, just buy them from Amazon.de. It'll be <1/2 of what it'd cost you from a local place, even after shipping.

Now he tells you where to get a better deal....lol
I have never heard of Proxxon wrenches before. If you have time, could you post a picture of the Proxxon beside one of your regular wrenches? I would really like to see how much thinner it is. The only really thin wrenches I have seen are for bicycles. Thanks.

Looks great, just noticed that Irwin are selling pliers made in Germany now too.

If they were the same ones they sold in the states at Lowe's, they are relabeled NWS pliers. They didn't sell well because most people associate Irwin with cheap tools.

Here you go

Gedore on the left, Wright in the middle, Proxxon on the right.

I think I paid $60 for a full set of 22 wrenches. I also have their offset ring end wrench set. That one I'd say is pretty close in quality to my Stahlwille set of the same thing.

The one thing I have from Proxxon that I actually really love is their rotary ratchet. I haven't seen anything similar from anyone else and it has saved me a bunch of effort more than once in the 6 months that I've had it.

Ok, ddawg and packet, I am impressed with your recommendations and especially with packet's pictures. Damn, I didn't know I could get a wrench that is about half the thickness of a regular wrench. I gotta save my pennies and get a set of those. Thanks.

I was thinking that since the design of the cutters is almost identical except the colour scheme and handle. NWS are very good pliers, as good as knipex i would say.

I've got the proxxon wrenches too, together with a few socket sets. They're very cheap over here and good quality. Not made in germany though, if that's of any interest.
