Well just got back from the pawn shop, this is what I got:

Picked this saw up for $33 and change. Everything was there but the blade wrench, it came with a case, extra blade, laser-enhancing glasses? and some type of guide edge, looks very clean.

Here is the other thing I got, Stanley 100ft tape measure, $3.73, just need to clean it up a bit, tape is clean case has some junk on it.

It came in at $39.50 out the door. They did come down on price when I asked, the saw was priced at $39 and the tape at $5. I'm happy, hopefully not addicted.

You didn't get hurt at all. Good deal. With a little practice, you'll improve.

if the pawn shop sold the saw for 33, what did they pay the guy for it, $15?

Man I have no idea. When I saw that price yesterday, I knew I would kick myself if I didn't go back for it. I just came in from cleaning/playing with it. It barely looks used, handful of times max. Cleaned a bit of saw dust off it and checked all the screws to make sure everything was tight. Definitely a nice find.

It won't be your last! I've gotten stuff from pawn shops that I never would have bought full price. Never had a need for alot of those tools till I found them underneath a bunch of junk. And, for a buck or two, I discovered I "needed" that tool from there on out!

That if there was only some way to take out the middle man between the crackhead and the end used tool purchaser!

Looks like some good finds!

That way [to take out the middle man] is becoming Craigslist and, perhaps to a lesser extent, eBay.

You could always hang out outside the pawn shop all day and catch the illegals and crackheads before they go in.
The other problem is, that much of the stuff is lost on pawn, not bought outright by the shop. Crackhead misses his payment and then the pawn shop gets it for a song and dance.
If the item is in very good condition, and is currently manufactured, the shops will usually offer 25% of retail for it if they are buying it outright.

I think LoneGunman used to have a pawn shop, maybe he will chime in if he is not too busy coating guns for people.
