Do proto rebuild kits work in plumb ratchets? People at Goodwill left the bag with these two in it. For $3 had to bring it home.

:)You are very lucky to find this at the thrift store! I never find any tools when I go. I still have hope, though.

Great score I never and I repeat never find any tools at the thrift store...Don't know if the staff keeps them as they first come in or if they call their friends and let them have a first crack at them?

Even more funny the "GOOD STUFF" behind the glass cases do not contain any tools, so I have no clue where the tools end up? I would think that of all the tons of items given for free you would see at least a few tools come up for sale from time to time.

Yes, they will fit. Secondly, you **** for finding this. I need this ratchet. Good price. I found my rarest plvmb item which was a ranger 1/2 combination wrench at goodwill so there are good deals to be had at thrift stores. You just have to check back consistently.

I just saw a Plomb brake spring plier at a new Goodwill store yesterday. #217 IIRC.

Update: I went back and it was a Proto under all the surface gunk.

If you need any internal parts, I have some original Plomb internals for that ratchet.

Yep Proto works most of the time. I have lots of Plomb tools and want more. Look for 9/32" drive size. Have many antiques for trade.

Great score... Especially at that price!

And yes, Stage20 is correct. The "V" many people include in the name is merely an online attempt to replicate the inverted triangle the company used in place of the "O" in the name PLOMB during the later years.

The company was established in Los Angeles, CA by a man named Alphonse Plomb in 1912.

Not to be confused with the Fayette R. Plumb Co. from Pennsylvania that manufactures hammers and hatchets and the like.... And also famously won a trademark infringement suit against Plomb Tool Co. in '47. Prompting Plomb's name change to Proto.

But back to the point.... Great score! Now you'll need the sockets and extensions...maybe the nut driver...The box of course. Then maybe the speed wrench... and...and...and... ;^)

Enjoy!

Ya, don't catch that bug, it's tough to shake! Oh, and Plomb was founded in 1907.

Yes they do. (An least in Plvmb (Plomb) ratchets with the same base model No. I don't think Plumb ever made ratchets... )
