So i finally got my first real air compressor. I picked up a Quincy 325 from a company that was moving and couldnt take it with them. The roc is 104 i paid 400 so i think i made out pretty well. Its an older curtis tank and a 5horse 3phase that i will be swapping out. I plan on downsizing the drive pulley for increased quietness and lower amperage(does that sound like a good plan or not?) Now ive had things that people refer to as air compressors in the past(im now partially deaf-thanks craftsman) and have been a mechanic for quite awhile and used champions and such just never had one at my house. Any recomendations on setups are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just follow Quincy's recommended rpm recommendations for the pump and there will be no problem. Make sure you have at least 15psi of oil pressure or so. It should last forever if it's in good shape.

Thanks Mac. It has from what I remember 20 or 25 pounds of oil pressure and no knocks. It was being used at a small packaging facility to run air nailers. It had a miniscule 3/8 hose tying it into their air system. So essentially it was barely being run. Its a newer style with the oil filter so hopefully ill have it forever.
