What about drilling a recessed hole in the hockey pucks and then bolting them to the compressor feet? I would think it would absorb vibrations and help keep the compressor from moving.

That's what I'm thinking 3 hockey pucks and see what that does. Right now it doesnt dance around but I kinda hope pads quiet it down. That and eventually I may do an intake muffler

That thing is really cool. It looks like it was designed to look similar to an engine on an airplane of the era.

So I finally have all the walls done. Ahhhhhh it's been so nice working in the a.c. haha. I also did some work on the double doors. Took a little break today and went out on the boat and also used the shop some to make another piece of furniture for my wife. Were really into uh idk what youd call it functional rustic haha
That table is amazing. Yet another reason to make sure my wife never goes on GJ. She'll see that table and ask why she doesn't have one as I have all the tools to make one and more than enough "repourposeable" "stuff" around outside.

Looks like a well laid out space!! I'm looking forward to seeing the welder tower !!

Well got the vise don me and now it's time to build a new table. I threw out the crummy base for my top when I moved so now I get to build a new one. Heres the vise cleaned up and the feet for my table. They are way overkill but the price was way too good to pass up

More progress on my sit/stand welding bench. 1/2-20 holes drilled and tapped for both vises and also started mounting the hinges for the flip down tig foot pedal rest/foot rest. I like a high table for standing at but the struggle is reaching the foot pedal I hope this solves that. Also keeps the cords off the ground seeing as my welders home will be under the table.

That vise kicks so much you know what. I’m definitely interested in finding one of those, though I probably never will!

I used to live in Jax I. The Southside area and still have family in Julington Creek/St. Johns. Whereabouts are you?

Red: great looking table and of course I already mentioned that your vise is way up there on the COOL POINTS CHART.

I just happened to see your thread so i'm subscribing to it so I'll know when you have made new posts and i'll try to catch up or at least follow along.

if you'd like to put the link to your thread in your sig line you can PM me or just go into your GJ profile (click on USER CP) and then click on sig line in the left column. now open a new browser page on GJ and find your thread so you can copy and paste the link to your sig line. save and it should show up at the bottom of all of your posts. OK?

good luck and keep up the great work in your shop and with your cool tools.

Thanks guys....small update got some salvaged handles as well and cleaned them up. Should pair nicely with the hinges. The plan is to make a slide out drawer under the welder to hold the tig torch/lines and foot pedal or other accessories to try and keep them off the floor.

So I kinda bounced around my a.d.d kicked in
Got half the top holes drilled but also worked on the storage drawer. I wanted no gap at the top of the drawer but settled on an inch. That way I can leave my tig hoses connected but still store them in the drawer

Are you putting a piece of sheet metal on the supports above the wood drawer? I would hate to see a fire due to welding sparks landing in the drawer.

Not too many sparks on this table. I mostly tig weld, I do my fair share of mig too but I'm quite careful. The plan is is to use cur up 2x12 for the foot rest and shelf above the drawer. I have a piece of sheet metal that will slide under the top if I do happen to mig weld at any point though.

Red: i can't say i've seen or heard of anybody putting in wood drawers in their steel welding table, but if you are comfortable with that and like the look it's yours and works for me.

if you might want to make the wood look a little aged you might buy some BLO (boiled linseed oil) and put on a few coats to dull the brightness and age it's look a bit.

I noticed on your little vise thread that TWERTSY is on it now so i'm guessing if there is anything to be found about that vise he's one of the best at finding stuff like that.

keep up the great work.

It's like you read my mind haha I have BLO and antique looking charcoal colored stain left over from a desk I built my wife. I mostly tig so I'm ok with the wood I do a lot of "delicate parts" that's also why I'm ok with with my welder being right under the holes in the table  I like to keep things tidy haha

The bench is getting there but my goofy self didnt think about the pressure treated I had not being able to take stain till it dries. Oh well work with whatcha got right. So this is where I'm at on it. Gotta clean up the wood a bit and a few other thing. Not for everyone but for me it's what I need. The main goal was a stable table levelable:confused: with clamp mounts with the ability to store the welder and cooler. I also wanted to store the cables off the floor and be able to sit or stand and weld at it. The whole thing looks good but hey I can easily sweep under it too haha

Red: you might be able to hit the treated wood with your belt sander and get the BLO to adhere, but your call. looks like you are customizing your cool bench nicely.

is that a CHINESE WONDER VISE (or is the blue on made in USA) on the other end of the bench opposite the OLD MADE IN USE Gatling gun looking vise?

keep up the great work!!

Haha it's from an orange big box store. A irwin/record it's actually pretty nice and wasnt cheap. However it's still the "I'll tack and grind on it" vise nothing special just a workhorse that I dont mind if a grinder hits it

Shop looks great. Our air compressors are on rubber feet but aren't bolted down. I had one of them bolted down and I could feel it shaking the slab. It made everything on the bench next to it dance.

I noticed mine walking the other day. I have some rubber I plan on cutting to put under the feet. I plan on mounting the wilton to my wooden bench. I know it's no bullet but the price was right
