New here, so I thought I would throw down a small build thread!
7 years ago my wife and I moved into our first home. As standard duty as a guy, I was disappointed about the lack of a shop, as if the 40x30x12 attached three car wasn't enough...It took a little real world slap from my ol' man to tell me that I cant have everything all at once! It took him 30 years of homeownership to get his first shop, and we built a lot of cool **** outta that two car garage!
Fast forward to present day, we had finally saved enough to build a shop! So I pulled the trigger this summer. It is truly amazing how quick you go from the base price to insulation, radiant floor heat, eaves, and windows!! Good thing I live by the "budget for X, save for double!"
The outfit that is building it appears to be doing a very neat and tidy job. The fit and finish is more than I expected. They had to do some grade work before hand, and I just asked them to leave the dirt piled up and I will spread it out where I want it. They have neatly stacked the scrap wood for me to pick and choose what I need and they will haul it off when they are completed. I realize this may be standard practice, but anymore, nothing really surprises me. They spend a few minutes at the end of the day picking up trash, nails, and scraps before they leave.
Some facts...
36x48x14
16x12 garage door
1 man door
Basic Vapor/Insulation over the girts, under the steel... for now
Radiant floor heat
5in concrete floor
