Okay so I was lucky enough to get access to a "horders" collection (i.e. there are 43 flatheads on the lot) No pictures per request of the owner.

Anyway I was buying some Model A headlights and I came across this. Thought I would share.

Its not much but it is still in the package! Also came across some vintage stickers that I may go back for.

SPP46 looks like a promo kit.

Well considering every other hand tool I own is Craftsman I am a looooooooong way from that. :)

Also my uncle always told me "Don't buy that snap-on ****, get real tools made by Mac" (He was a diesel mech for the city of Chicago)

Would these be Mercury flat heads and are they complete and not all cracked?

I am not a flathead guy, what are the head numbers for mercs? I know there were old ones without the waterpumps on the heads, newer ones with the water pump on the heads and even a couple with stock alum heads. They are all sitting outside, complete.

Oh and the Mac tools he bought were in the 70's and 80's

Mercs pre-49 were 59A's... later were 8CM and EAC (the highest compression heads from 1953)...

Okay I do remember seeing EAC on one of the engines. The others I noted were:

8ba, 8rt, ea8? , f08

I am not sure if they are free turning or not as I wasn't looking for them I was looking for model t parts. I will be going back there next weekend so I can take a closer look if you like. I have no clue what he is asking for any of the engines but I can find that out as well. Though shipping from Ontario to Cali may be a bit rough.

Are you going to open it? I would recommend leaving it in the packaging for another 30 years, then put it on ebay.

BTW is there any writing on the back of the package? Like a price tag or UPC code or something?

No I wasn't planning on opening it. But there is no writing anywhere on the package. It does have some sort of design on it but I haven't looked at it close enough to see what it is.

It was in a box with Snap-on racing stickers, old formula 1 ones. Had snap on logo and an Indy car with a drivers signature on it. I plan on going back and picking a few of those up as there were about 5 of each.

All the Mac tools I own are heavy duty, most of them are older also though. I like that keychain screwdriver alot. I've been looking for one of those or a proto for a good price.

curiously, the snap on ones seem to go cheaper on ebay than the protos, and the snap on's have the additional utility of having a hex in the end for the keyring. Don't know what size it is though

That is cause the Proto's look much nicer.
