I live near a well established auction place and I usually browse their tool listings and then watch the weekly circus.
The most recent one included this "vintage" set of MIT combination wrenches. Man, that brought back memories because the first set of wrenches I ever bought for my very own was that exact set of wrenches. Approximately 1978. I just sold them this past summer at Whatshernames garage sale. They were heavy. They were clunky. They were thick. But I used them for many years as my main set of wrenches and never broke one. I was a young man with small kids to feed. At that time I thought a set of basic Craftsman wrenches was a lofty goal.
I don't know all the history of MIT/Tekton. But I have been watching them and have bought a few of their new tools. I don't think they are on par with the top lines of tools but from selling absolute junk to slowly introducing a nice grade of domestic tools into their lineup shows me they are serious about selling tools for a few years to come.
I try not to overly push brand names and I'm not trying to shill for Tekton with this thread. I just saw that pouch of wrenches, smiled and my memory took over.
