Hey GJ!
I've uploaded three new videos. Collectively they're a slide show of a visit I made to the Early V8 Ford Foundation Museum in Auburn Indiana.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

Thanks for checking them out!
Currently working on another video of the engine.
Check back soon!

Hi Terranova - funny, both the Five Pound Garage and Ten Pound Garage share the same affliction! The Master Motor Tester and Distributor Machine I have had for over 36 years. I picked up the 947 last year. Any idea where to find a service manual for the 947? I found a user manual on fleabay....

Happy Motoring!

Ha! I’ve got the stuff to fill out your 200 rack stashed in the upper cabinets and some more stuff squirreled away. As for a service manual, I think most of my service stuff is for older stuff.

I currently have an extra 900 and 920 that I need to get rid of. So much Sun. I don’t know why, but I like it. I have more than I need and I still look.
It is definitely an affliction.

There’s a Facebook group too, if you’re interested.

Hi Terranova!

The only unit I have for the 200 rack is the timing light. I'm not even sure where I got those items from. The timing light flashes, but the meter showing advance just pegs to the right and stays there.

I can get a pattern on the 947's scope, but it is corrupted. I haven't the first clue how to trouble shoot it. I have a friend who might though, but it sure would be nice to find a service manual. The fellow who installed my lift actually recognized the 947 - he used to sell and service them. I was able to get cables from him to replace my totally shot ones, but alas no service manual.

Some guys like restored gas pumps. Some collect signs. I really like the old Sun machines! Got some car stuff on the agenda first, but I plan to restore the distributor machine to operation and hopefully get some of the 947's functions working.

Happy motoring!

Hey everyone, episode 3 of my Ford project is now up.
I'd love some feed and/or response. I feel like this video may have wondered a bit.
Do I need to be more educational/factual? Am I assuming people know to much or am I being pretentious? Please help me make my videos better!
Thanks,
T

I have been enjoying your videos Mike. I don't know anything much about flathead Fords so am learning along with you.

TerraNova,

Just went through your entire thread, thank you for sharing! Have always loved the Sun testing equipment and just stumbled onto a lower cabinet. Do you happen to have any information on the paint code or match for the blue, and any leads or sources on decal reproduction? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
MADC

MADC, at one point there was a hammerite light blue available from one of the spray paint manufactures, but I think it’s since changed. It’s been awhile since I’ve bought any. As for decal reproduction, I havenT really checked it out. I’ve seen some on eBay every once in awhile. You could probably get some vinyl printed if you could make or have made a file rather then getting them screen printed.

Watched the video over the weekend, if you do have voiceover, I couldn't hear it

but that new dual carb intake did look pretty good once you got that pipe out of the way under it.

TN: while others here used Photobucket I changed from using them shortly after I joined here cause PB changed the way it worked and had a lot more ads so I just click on the paperclip and attach pics off my laptop to the threads. it shows up as a thumbnail and 2 clicks and the user sees it full size without going to another site.

yes it doesn't look as well as PB, Flicker, Imgur or others so your call cause I bet all will eventually do something like PB did when they get enough people "trapped".

anyway if you wanted to use Imgur I hear that you need to eliminate the s from HTTPS to get their links to show up on GJ.

nice work finding the top of your cool woodworking bench and will that last or do you have FSD that is more dangerous than Corona 19?

cheers

Working on the engine I decided to get parts washer.
I found two listed locally
One for 60 and one for 50.

Of course the guy with the 50 won’t get back to me as quick as I’d have liked so I go after the one for 60.

Turns out it doesn’t have a pump, but I buy it anyway, like a *******.
I took it home and the next day I started cleaning it up.

After going it with some simple green and working off my frustration of buying a parts washer with out a pump, the guy with the $50 dollar finally gets ahold of me. I negotiate with SWMBO to get the second one as well. (Where are you putting all this!?).

This time, I’m not gonna end up suckering myself. After having the guy plug it in and it not work, he’s like “I got another pump over here.”
So, $50 bucks later p, I’m rolling with a pump, not having to worry about how I was gonna transport a cleaner full of nasty juice and nowhere to put it.

A new pump for the first one? About $50 and shipping.

Found a spot. Half gallon of simple green and a couple of gallons of water and I’m off!

The pump is a bit of a wonky workaround. It was built for a much deeper set up, but it works.

I was so geeked, I cleaned both water pumps and the old intake off the engine.

I kinda like it when a plan comes together. Lol

Terranova: I like your story about your parts washers and that could be why I have two huge leased storage units.

sorry I haven't had time to watch your videos, but maybe later after I catch up on my Honey Do's on top of my To Do list.

I hope you and your family are avoiding catching this C19 and that your other friends and relatives are doing ok too.

cheers and keep up the great work.

Thanks for the kind words Drives. Fortunately, we are well. Unfortunately my wife works at a hospital so it’s a pretty serious concern. Luckily they are fortunately able to mask everyone.

Hope you and yours are ok as well.

I was hoping to get more done in the garage but as we go the kids are becoming more a PITA. Probably a case of what I allow is what will continue. Guess we’ll find out.

Well, the boss caught wind of me actually getting things done in the garage and put in a work order. For those of you who’ve followed the thread, the built in shelves/media thing in the kids playroom was really a trial run for this project.
I knew it was coming, just didn’t know it would be NOW, in the middle of my focusing on the engine/car. It’s all good I guess, as garage time is garage time, right?

When we moved into this house we had already seen several models from our builder with built ins in the “office”. Ours however, did not come so equipped. But that’s a bonus because, hey, I get to do it, right!? Hell yeah.

What we have...

Untitled by Mike Terranova, on Flickr

After brainstorming with the boss, I roughed these two ideas out. Centered around what to do in reference to the middle window.

Untitled by Mike Terranova, on Flickr

Untitled by Mike Terranova, on Flickr

She liked the one with the narrower center section which allowed for more book shelf space.

The other day, while pursuing Gregor’s thread, someone mentioned their admiration of and inspiration by the technical drawings in his sketch book.

So I reached way back to that late 80’s high school drafting class and went for it.

Pretty sure 1” = 1/16th.

Untitled by Mike Terranova, on Flickr

Not to shabby, if I do say so myself. (But certainly nowhere near “Gregor level”)

Not pictured, uprights to the ceiling on either side windows similar to the case work found in other parts of the house.

The boss, being in “full send” mode, sent me off for sheet goods. Being a former employee of the orange big box, I try to shop there, but their wood selection *****, to be honest. Recently the green Big Box built a store fairly close, so I went over there.
Night and Day.
Holy moly.
Sheet goods from there from now on.

I bought four sheets of 3/4 birch (not Baltic 😔) and a 4x8 of 1/4” Baltic for cabinet backs.

Cutting starts today, after I dust proof some car stuff.

Mike that is inspiring for sure. I plan to build out our office at some point. My stumbling block is 2 corners of the room have angles. And with the 10ft ceiling I really want to run the built ins, and bookcases all the way to the ceiling.

Then there is the debate of build it all out of Walnut and Walnut Ply or Maple and staining the Maple to look like Walnut.

I’m fortunate in that the room is “square” and even more so that everything’s getting painted white except for the “counter top” which will hopefully be a fairly naturally stained “slab” of white oak.

It is definitely interesting trying to figure out how to integrate the sides a little into everything else. There’s 10” between the top of the window trim and the crown moulding. We’ll see how it looks when it’s done.
Also the boss wants white shiplap on the back of the book shelves in order to match the living room wall.

My nephew made a big *** desk top out of some 4/4 walnut end of Feb early March, and I had some thin slats left over. I used them the other night to start the back patio s’mores fire. Man, that’s the last time I burn walnut.

I actually set up two cameras to experiment with that last night. Sitting here trying to figure out who to edit it all together. I was out in the shop for a few hours but I had an interruption in the middle.
Family friend who I helped to mount her tv to the wall calls in the middle of everything and asks “did you happen to keep the extra screws?” Of course I did! But can I find them? She needs the bigger ones because her parents bought her a larger TV. Now I’m not the most organized person, but I found those screws. Turns out I don’t use a lot of metric based machine screws so I managed to keep them all in one jar. Little Victories! So I took a ride to run them over to her and get out of the house for the first time today.

So I digress.
YES,I took video and am trying to edit from two cameras to the same time line.

Turns out my initial strategy for two cameras sucked. So I’m gonna scrap it. Not worth my time to try to distill 2 hours (actually 4) into something worth while. Sorry

I’m currently trying different ideas for shooting two cameras but it’s been a bit frustrating lately. We’ll see what comes of it.

I’ve been wanting to do an update several times but haven’t quite made it. IÂ’ve got a bunch of things going on. I think I’m going to just do a text lite, picture dump.

Took us a bit to dimension it.
Enough sq ft for a 20” wide top that’s 158” long.

I posted a picture of some of the stuff primered in the previous post.

Here’s what I started with.

Here’s a look at what it’ll be closer to looking like when I’m done.

Corn hole boards

SWMBO asked for some corn hole boards for the Memorial Day weekend, so of course I obliged.

Ever buy a tool and proceed to abuse it immediately? I had, at one point, a hole cutter for my drill press that looked like this, so when I saw this one, I assumed that’s what this was.
Untitled by Mike Terranova, on Flickr

Turns out this is for drywall, not plywood.
So I just pushed through and essentially burnt a hole through this piece to make a template.
