My fix for putting lights on a pole barn

My wife wanted some carriage lights on the outside of the new garage and from my research here, it seemed most people made something to go over the ribs in the steel. I had some scrap 3/16" plate and flat bar laying around so I went to town with my bandsaw and tig welder. I think they turned out pretty good.

Looks awesome. I hate the cheap mounting blocks they make for vinyl siding, and the even fewer options for pole barns.

^^^THIS^^^

Looking good otherwise! Nice work

The holes were chamfered sothere are no sharp edges and then painted. Is a bushing in the hole really required by code? is there some concern that the metal will rub through the romex and then through the wire insulation and then short out?

In 652 years of the limited vibrations that will experience, I can definitely see that happening. :p

You're fine.

Better safe than sorry. Even a piece of old hose around the wire and thru the hole is good to. With them being mounted close to your garage doors, they will see more vibration than what you think.

Otherwise very good job, much better than those crappy plastic ones they sell.
