I'll update this as construction progresses. This is a Stockade brand flush frame pole building, 42' x 50' x 14'6". I haven't seen many pics of this type pole building, it's a good choice if you want to insulate with standard batts and finish the inside. The manufacturers link is www.stockadebuildingsinc.com where you can find construction details. This one will have three 12x12 insulated overhead doors, 2 windows, 2 service doors.

how do the posts go into the ground?
augered hole filled with concrete?

set at 48" depth into an augered hole in dry mix concrete base with a 12" piece of rebar passing through the bottom of the post. These are laminated poles (three 2x6's) as you can probably see in the photo. Engineered staggered connection from the foundation poles to the top poles, more detail on the weblink I posted.

Looks good, Dave. I've been attracted to the pole barn concept as they are fairly common in my village and have certain advantages relative to less stringent permits, inspections, etc. I blew an email in to Stockade for info, but haven't heard back as yet. Have you determined what your final cost will likely be?

End of day 3. High winds slowed things down. Weather will be a player the next couple days.

wow, looking good, they putting in a floor when they are done.

Thanks!

Yes, in fact they vibra-packed the limestone screenings (fill) today and leveled it up for the pour tentatively scheduled for Thursday. 6" concrete inside the building, 4" thick 10' apron out front. Was too windy again to day for steel hanging.

Nice pics of the framing. I've tried to explain this type of wall detailng to those who don't think you can insulate a pole building with conventional fiberglass batts. Thanks.

Yes, you bet....in fact it was one of your posts that let me know such a thing was even out there. That's what got me hunting for one.

Cupola, gutters, trim and such go on tomorrow...

Sure would be nice to get one day with winds less than 40 mph! :rocketwho

Didn't get finished today. Oh well. Concrete tomorrow. Maybe the whole thing finished by Monday....

Thanks, I like it a lot. These guys have been terrific to work with too. Prompt, polite, hard working, and good attention to detail......so rare to find that now days. It was hard for me to **** it up and hire someone else to do it since I pretty much do everything myself but in the end, this was absolutely the right decision. Was easier on the marriage too! ;)

I have an excel sheet of the floor layout but can't seem to figure a way to attach it here....anyway, basically looking at it from the front.....in the back left corner, a walled off 420 square foot woodworking shop. Back right corner is parking, front right bay is more parking. Middle bay is the tear down/ restoration work area, this will be where I build my '39 pontiac....and then over on the left is the work shop /fabrication area with cabinets, a welding table, machines and so forth. It's 14' tall to accomodate a lift at some point and double decker parking if necessary in the 2 parking stalls....and also it provides height for working on an RV. I don't have one buy my folks do and they could use a place to work on it indoors from time to time.

If you can't figure out how to post it as an Excel file then you can try this.

Have the layout in full view on your computer screen
Then hold down the "alt" key and hit "prt sc" (or print screen).
Then open up your favorite picture software and either choose "paste" or "paste from clipboard"
Then crop and or resize as needed
Then save it as a jpeg and post it as a picture file

A little dirt and rock work done. Need some rain for compaction though...but it doesn't seem to rain around here any more.
