This is the front view of my "barn". I am a general contractor and we put an addition on a church. This was their storage/caretakers garage that was in the way of the new part. We built him a new shop and I dismantled this one and moved it to my backyard. It was originally built in 1976 and has had a rough life, so its a little beat up. Original faded red paint, I repainted it a couple years ago and put a lean to addition on the back for more storage. I had some extra trusses from a job and added to the length when I put it up the first time. Had to buy a little bit of roof and a couple pcs of siding. I have less than $500. total into it minus the concrete floor and footings.

Heres the backs side with the lean to addition. The darker blue corner in the front is my "free" shed I built out of salvaged material. I call myself a packrat because I cant stand to throw things away, but in the pc world I guess im a green builder!

I grew up with a "Waste not, want not" father.

Now, I get a good laugh when my "sustainability expert" at work thinks she's doing something new.

Useable space at a great price. Nice job.

SInce it was built in '76, was the siding nailed on or screwed on ? If it was nailed, how did you go about removing the nails ?

I Will get a pic of the inside, though its not pretty. My work truck parks in there, and the rest is used for storage:( Its cram packed, mostly tools and usable building materials. Every so often I bring in a dumpster and clean it out. Roofing and siding were originally installed with ring shank nails, we used a catspaw to CAREFULLY take them out without damaging the metal. I used screws on re assembly. The lean to addition on the back also came from salvaged material with a very low build cost. When I put the barn up the first time the building inspector gave me a hard time because it was "recycled". He said he had no engineering on the trusses. I told him it had stood for the last 30 odd years I thought it would be fine. Cant remember the size, I think its about 30' deep by 46' long, truss height is about 14'.

I wish I had a place to put something like that, I'd make the rest of it happen.
