My friends call me Mikey

Hello all, my name is Michael. But most call me Mike or Mikey. I figured I should introduce myself.

I'm 29 and I've been welding for about 7 years now. I've been building barges for 5 years. My real passion is Volkswagens. I have 5 so far, a 1964 Karmann Ghia, a 1973 Beetle, a 2004 R32, a 2001 New Beetle and a 2012 GTI.

A couple of pictures of my "garage". It's a 1.5 car garage. It's way too small. These are the only pictures I have right now, I need to get more once it warms up a bit. I built all the benches and shelves. I don't think they look bad for my first try.


This is a great place. I can't stop reading.

Welcome Mikey! In 1973 I bought a new Super Beetle. Man I'd love to have that car back. Would like to see some pictures of your cars.

ezriderga, my first vw was a 1972 standard beetle, I wish I had it back too.

Thanks guys, I forgot to mention I live in Owensboro, KY.
My Ghia. 1964 body, late chassis, Subaru engine, Porsche transmission, brakes and wheels. And a ton of other mods. A work in progress. The picture was taken at a friend's house. I built about 90% of the car at his house.

My 2004 R32 is in the foreground and my '73 standard Bug is in the background. It was my mother's. I bought it for her for christmas a few years back but after she passed away in march. The car became mine but I still call it "mom's bug". She also had a plate that said "Moms VW". I plan on restoring it.
