Hello all,
I have been restoring my house (built in 1920) for the last 5 yrs, tackling all the interior/exterior items including replacing and/or restoring all the rooms, plaster mouldings, copper gutters, slate roof, plumbing, electric and all finish carpentry, etc. Well I started my garage last Fall Oct/Nov 08 and stopped because of weather conditions and the birth of my son now 3 months old. I documented most of the steps and I currently have begun to start on it again. In this thread I will try to show some of the progress. My situation was unique because while restoring the house I wanted to have a garage that fits the look of the house and meets the building codes for my area NYC, also keeping strict guidelines to Hillside preservation & such. My house was built with a one car garage that went under the house(Florida room) it will be still functional and will work as a storage/workshop for my cars. I will post a few before pictures to give a general outline of the project. I have been a lurker on this site for many years & have been inspired by some incredible garages here. Hopefully you will enjoy the photos and I can continue to learn from some of the best people around....garage journal members.
The beginning.Oct 2008 The front & rear of the house. Notice the photo of the back of the house, a small terrace was added to the Florida room by the previous owners in the early 50's.

Hey MrVcode! Congrats to you and your beautiful wife on the new baby! Your garage is looking good. I'm almost finished with mine as well. Looking forward to seeing more pics. You have a fantastic view
If that's the Hudson, did the airliner go KERSPLOOSH nearby? LOL
