We moved last year to house with just over an acre of property. My last house was a standard city size lot but the house did have a 22x24 detached garage. I am an auto tech by trade and it was hard for me to move to a place that only had a small attached garage on the house and an even smaller garage that the previous owner used to store his boat, but I figured I would make it work for a while. We moved in just over a year ago and I have pretty much completely redone the house at this point and now it is time to get my garage back.

I am having it done to lock up and then I will take over and do the finish work.

It will be 40x36 over all, with 28x36 being my 2 bay garage with a 2 post hoist and then on the left side will be a 12x36 bay for my RV to be parked in.

Here is the back yard just after I tore down the old detached garage.

Then they showed up with a back hoe to remove the old concrete and footings/trees/and stumps to make way for the new building

Once that was cleaned up, in came the big boy to dig for the footings for the new building. It will have a full foundation under it.

They should have all the footers in tomorrow and be pouring concrete by wednesday.

More updates then!

They got the concrete in the footers today and the box forms for the 4 sono tubes that will support the RV storage along the left side.

Concrete truck and the pump truck showed up today, walls and posts are all poured. Will let the forms sit over the weekend and strip them Monday. Then backfilling.

Can't wait for framing...then it will start to look like something quickly!

Looking good. What do you expect the finished product to look like? Any sketches or details to share?
The left side where the 4 post footings will be a 12x36 area to park my travel trailer under and the shop space is 28x36 on the right. I am putting full span trusses across it that will measure 44' tip to tip so that I will have full height for the rv parking. 12' 2x6 walls will go on the foundation. There is a foot of concrete above ground so I will have over 13' ceilings. 16' wide garage door on the left of the front of the shop and a man door on the right. I have a 10k john bean 2 post hoist to go in it. Will be doing 100 amp service to the shop. It will be vinyl sided and asphalt shingled to match my house.

All footings are 4ft below grade because of ground freeze/thaw here.

Trusses are on site.....had a rather large inconvenience with getting them on the roof....the damn rental company forgot to get the telescopic forklift we had reserved a week ago insured so we could drive it to my house.....ugh.

Now with the long weekend for Thanksgiving it will be tuesday or wednesday.

I started wrapping the building and installing the rain screening to start prepping for my Hardie Siding.

Trusses, posts and beams started going up today

Weather has been absolutely **** for the last while...nothing but pounding rain. They have half the roof decking on and the fascia mostly up. Should have shingles on soon!

I didn't like the look when it was just truss and framing in front. Now that I see the main door and man door the symmetry (mostly) is very pleasing. Great looking shop. Build looks solid.

Thanks, I needed the height in the RV bay and without the walls getting quite tall I wasn't able to get enough slope on just a lean too off the side of the main structure to clear the AC unit on the top of my RV. Now there is over 13ft there...no problems clearing anything now heh.

Garage door is 16x11

Roofer surprised me and showed up today on a Saturday and got it all shingled. Now it will have a chance to dry out and they can start prepping to place the slab. I'm going to finish up the house wrap and rain screening tomorrow on the front wall.

You must be a concrete finisher or a carpenter that does form work, correct?

No I am an automotive technician. I am getting friends of mine that do this for a living to put the building up. Why?

no window ? , since it's the same size than mine , i will follow you with interest

Nope no windows. Will be a row in the garage door. Had a window in my last shop, never once opened the blinds on it in the 5 years I lived there.
