January 5th; 3 months into project.
Progress includes:
(1) Installed 8 ceiling outlets for 8 fluorescent lights (T8, 4-foot, plug-in) using MC cable and tying into two existing light fixtures. MC Cable is hanging temporarily-will clamp after paint. Electrical supplies $120. Lights and bulbs 25$ each. This step cost $170.

(2) Only have two fluorescent lights installed for working light as I finish drywall and paint.
(3) Old drywall tape (14 years old) removed, joints sanded, and drywall screws installed to tighten all panels. Time and the builder-grade drywall nails allowed a lot of sagging and the screws tightened panels as much as a 1/4 inch in some places. Cost for drywall screws $21.

(4) Garage doors insulated using four panels of
1.5 inch R-Max from Home Depot. Cut to size and friction fit. Panels were $28 each, $112 for all four.
Note--With the outdoor temp at 30 degrees F, the garage door insulation raised my indoor garage temp from an average of 40 degrees to 52 degrees--no heater needed to mud and paint now.

(6) Removed Hyloft storage units and moved boxes to attic--opens the garage up and flows more light. Sold the 4 Hyloft racks on Craigslist for $100.
Total cost to date: $725
Next step: Finish drywall, prime and paint.
