Took the Camaro out for a cruise the other day and something did not feel right.
By the time I got home the trans was slipping pretty bad. Time for a rebuild.
Ordered a kit from Monster transmissions and should be here by wed.
Will be my first trans rebuild. Bought a special tool to compress the springs to aid in taking out the snap rings.
Turned out to be easier to push down with the handle of a hammer and pop out the snap ring.
Now I have a bench full of parts for my giant trans puzzle.
Should be fun. New learning experience.
Glad I made the work benchs so big.

Any updates??

It's been awhile since I have posted. Just been enjoying the Camaro and the garage. Got the snowblower all prepped and the refrig stocked with heavier winter style beer(Always try to keep my priorities straight).
I have a few winter projects started and just can across a new one to start.
I've been going back and forth between keeping an old school small block in the Camaro or building a newer LS motor. Looking through Craigs List a couple of weeks ago and my mind was made up for me. An LQ4 for $550 five minutes from my house, after a little negotiating we settled on $400. I think it was a good deal. Everything looks in very good shape. I have a pretty modest goal of 400 to 450hp. Should be attainable without to much trouble. I hope. Early Christmas present.

Starting looking around for a set of cylinder head stands. Most were at least $50, so out came the tools and for $10 here's my homemade stands. The OCD in me won't let them stay looking like that for long. A little smoothing out & polishing is in order. They work great.

Used some over cleaner and all the carbon came right off.

New Project has to start soon or the wife will kill me in my sleep.
The first car she ever bought brand new.
A 1990 Mustang GT. Have been collecting parts to modernize it a bit.
We want to pull the motor out to freshen and upgrade it a bit.
Since the Camaro's new LS motor is on the engine stand I already have, it's time for a extra one.
Went on Craigs list to see what was around before I went and bought a new one.
Within 2 minutes I found a brand new one for only $30. Had it picked up within 20 minutes.
But since I can't leave anything alone and the stand is orange at the moment, something has to be done. Upgrade to grade 8 bolts and a new paint job will come tomorrow.

Good stuff! Dare I ask the color? I ended up with an engine stand as a gift after helping a buddy swap an engine in his truck. I need to put it to use here soon.

Keep us updated on your new project. It sounds interesting.

I will match the stand color to the other one I have plus a few upgrades.
Will post pictures tomorrow.

Looking for a fast weekend fab job and came up with this, crankshaft stand.
Only one I found online was a Goodson one and it was $124.
Sorry, but for about $20 I can build my own.
Here it is.

Here is an updated picture of the engine stand. Two new bolt holes for extra strength, new grade 8 bolts, a fresh paint job, and a new pin(was missing the old one). Found the pin online, $7.

Spent the day cleaning and straightening the garage getting it ready for the winter projects. Have to build a new motor for the Camaro and rebuild the Mustang's 5.0.
Should be a busy winter.

Time to do a little work on the Mustang.
Bought some HF dollies today so I can move it around in the driveway easier.
They will be outside all winter so I figured I should swap out the hardware for stainless steel. Plus pack the bearings with grease. Should make them move better and last longer. Plus they match the floor.

Been looking for another Craftsman wrench store display for my wall and just found one online. Not sure how many sizes they made but these are the only sizes I've ever seen. They are from the 20's or 30's I think. Back when Craftsman was a powerhouse.
Anyways, I like the look of them. Plus I found some old Craftsman wrenchs from the 20's to put in them.

I've looked in off and on, but never read your post from the start. Just finished all of it. Great job on the garage make over. Are your outlets at 48 inch? That would make that cabinet above around 60 inch to the bottom?

Thanks Warren,
I enjoy my garage everyday now.
The outlets are about 50" off the ground.
