My Garage remodel/Armorpoxy project

After weeks of research on this site, and 4 weeks of hard work, I finally finished my garage.

I rented a Diamabrush/floor machine at HD for the pre-epoxy grinding (took about 7 hours for 560 sq feet), then put down the primer, base coat and clear over the course of the next 3 days. Then I painted the walls/ceiling, hung the shelves, etc, etc.

I put down Armorpoxy ArmorClad in the beige color. I wasn't too sure about the color when I first put it down but its definitely grown on me. I did epoxy in our prior home's garage in the grey color and wanted a different look. But, I didn't want a "color" like red or blue, and I figured white would look too sterile with my freshly-painted white walls, so I decided on beige (the desert tan was too dark for me).

I'm happy to answer any questions if anyone else is considering ArmorClad.

I'm quite pleased with the result and it was definitely worth the time and effort.

Did you feel like you needed to grind the floor was the etching with the kit not an option? Which clear did you go with? Could you apply the 40% discount code online or did you have to call to get it? Thanks

Shaggy,

-I decided, after extensive research through this and other websites, that my floor was probably too stained to just do the acid etch. The consensus seems to be that grinding is the definitive solution to really prep the concrete correctly. There was obviously some concrete dust created, and I didn't have a dust shroud, but I just stopped every 50-75 sq ft and swept up the dust. Then I mopped 3-4 times after sweeping again and blowing out the garage, until the floor was clean (as tested with a white rag).

-I went with the "original" clear, as I felt like the upgraded "military" clear was likely over-kill for my garage usage. And incidentally, I ordered an extra quart of it, as I was afraid I'd run short. In my 560 sq ft garage, I ended up only using about 3/4 of the gallon of the clear, and was able to return the quart I bought for a refund. That was with me applying it pretty thick, not trying to spread it on thin.

I called for the 40% discount, not sure if it works to do it through the online ordering.

To the other commentors, thanks!

Looks great. Thanks for posting the pictures. I am in the planning stage and had been thinking gray but I really like the beige now that I've seen the pictures.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the positive comments!

Titan, I must say after having the beige floor down for several weeks now, I'm liking it more and more. I never minded the gray in our last garage but this looks unique and brightens up the garage.

We sell a lot of the lighter colors. Very popular in the south and west.
