Davis nice find on the cart and the clamps. Those corner clamps are pretty expensive.

I have the same 3M mask. Two actually one for woodworking and one for paint and body work. The quick release is one of those things you don't know how you ever got along without.

I have been wanting an RZ mask but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I have read good reviews about the WEN products. I actually want to get their benchtop drill press. Have it bookmarked on Amazon. And it does look damn close to the Grizzly.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HQONFY6/?coliid=I2IU4EF17VJQ9O&colid=3RK39YEZ57J6J&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

You have already bought it but you will probably out grow it quickly and be longing for a 14". Sorry to break that to you. But you could keep it and put a small 1/4" blade on it for cutting tight curves when you do upgrade.

I don't know how well you will be able to resaw you need at least 1/2" blade a 3/4 hp motor to do decent resawing.

Looking forward to how it does for you.

Thanks Bret! I know you’re right about the bigger saw, just can’t justify spending the money on it right now and I’d like to get a good one. Those big ticket items next for me are a planer, jointer, dust collection, large band saw, large drill press, saw stop table saw, a lathe and someday maybe a CNC like a Shapeoko. I’m just a kid day-dreaming over here! [emoji39]🤩

I was thinking about making some handles for one the corner clamps. I’ve got a ton of old screwdrivers and hand tools I could probably find a handle good enough to use, the little pieces to turn and tighten them are kind of annoying. I think they’d be nice with a wooden screwdriver type handle.

Thanks for the comments, let me know how you like the drill press.

Got some time today between family activities to mess around. The girls had an old art easel that they never used and got left out in the rain. Before we threw it out I told them we needed to save the screws and hardware because we can reuse it. So I put them to work! We got a ton of good little screws, two hinges and 8 bolts with wing nuts!

Also built a kraft paper holder for the end of my table.

I cut a Harbor Freight metal yard stick and spaced it out with a washer so you can easily rip off a sheet of paper or pull it over the table to work on.

Amazon dropped off the new 8 hole backer plate for my sander(the old one disintegrated) along with a 72pc assorted pack of sanding discs! Time to make a sanding station organizer.

Got some sweet scores today off Facebook swap n shop today! Went to get these 16 gallon food grade barrels to use for garbage, rags etc. They’re 26 1/2” tall by 14 1/2” in diameter.

While I’m there the guy had this he was gonna sell but hadn’t listed yet... I asked how much, he said $10! I said sold!

So, $34 for all of it. I’m stoked for just the small metal barrels for rag storage etc. the hardware trays were a sweet bonus!

Great score. That is a great idea on the barrels. I need to replace the big giant 55 gal trash can in my woodshop that is taking up too much space.

I figured maybe I could use one for dust collection too, that’s why I got 3.

SD: that seller didn't SELL you that little Grainger organizer he GAVE IT TO YOU as you probably know. did you happen to see what a new one costs?

I've got some old 20 gallon oil cans that are my garbage cans and i've got a few sitting outside my shop full of scrap steel. they really are handy and if you might want to paint them red and black to match your cabinets I bet you'll like them even more.

great finds!!

Heck yes he did. I wasn’t sure what they were worth but I knew $10 was a steal! Not sure how I’ll use it since I already have so much hardware storage but we’ll see. I thought about painting them, maybe one. I kind of like the design now cause they match my Dewalt stuff. They’ll be handy for years to come for sure. He can get more too so I may get more down the road.

That is a steal for the Grainger organizer.

A huge steal! The guy works for Coca- Cola working on vending machines and they were having an inspection at their warehouse so he had to get rid of some stuff. I’m keeping touch with him for future buys!

Thanks Drives! The wife helped out so it wasn’t too bad. The tough one is the chandelier hanging in our stairwell she said she wants to update! I looked at her like [emoji15]... how am I gonna do that!?!? I have a little Giant type ladder but it’s a good height! I’ll have to research some good ways to do stairwell fixtures!

That grainger box! That's worthy of a "you ****" if you ask me! Nice score!

Haha, thanks! Knew I couldn’t let that one go!

SD: that picture you posted of the guy with the true GET R DONE attitude is amazing and it looks actually pretty solid.

do you know friends with Little Giant ladders? reason being i could see you using 2 on each end and putting in a 2x8 on each pair sort of like scaffolding then a 5th little giant on the 2x8's to get to that light's electrical box. if you were closer i'd loan you my 2 little giants and my little giant metal scaffolding my bride bought me a couple years ago that i've yet to use, but will soon on my fence or deck project.

good luck with that and hope your bride just reconsiders and says it's just a light. can you even change the bulb with your little giant ladder?

Yeah I’m sure we’ll be good for a while. Next project is a backsplash, recessed lighting and new pendant lighting in the kitchen!

Shane, I wish you well on that light fixture but it gave me a very vivid flashback.

In 1967 I finished the basement in our first home on a poverty budget. After putting up paneling and painting the drywall orange, my wife told me the staircase was "boring." She decided I should wallpaper the staircase ceiling. I successfully hung vinyl wallpaper in the kitchen so it seemed reasonable.
attachment.php

I miscalculated the amount of pre-pasted wallpaper for the job. Good thing I did because the first strip stayed up just long enough for me to make it from the top to the bottom, when the strip let go and the pasted side landed on me.

After delivering the wadded up ball to my wife on my way out the door, I headed to the store. I thought the funny look from the cashier was because of the partially dried wallpaper paste on me and my clothes but maybe he just wasn't used to a one-armed guy asking for extra strength wallpaper paste.

That led to me dressing up as a one-armed paper hanger for Halloween the following year but none of my friends got the joke.

Haha nice! She also just found some teal Adirondack chairs she wants to get for the backyard too! I don’t mind, better than pink or something lol.

So far the band saw is good! Got it opened up and put together after I posted the pic on IG. Tested it out with some boards against the fence, cuts straight and seems to be in good adjustment from what I’ve read about adjusting them. Blade is tracking in the center of the wheel right out of the box. I’ll probably watch some YouTube tonight after he Kid’s are in bed about dialing them in.

Band saw came in today. Very happy with the look and feel of it. Definitely feels solid and well made for a basic shop like mine. Clear easy instructions on how to adjust it, came with multiple Allen wrenches and a wrench for different spots, a fence and miter. It was basically all put together you just had to install the table which was easy.

Did some shop rearranging to see how I’ll like it all set up. Changed my mind about having the drill press where it was so we’ll see if I leave it like this or change it.

I moved the DP to the long bench by moving the beer fridge where it was.

I moved the water softener salt tank to the left of the softener and plan to build a platform for the fridge to sit on to open up the other table.

I may end up using the repurposed audio cart as a shop desk. I have a nice old heavy duty shop chair to recover and paint so that’ll work out well to use the iPad or computer while out here. Here’s where I tucked it away for now.

Still thinking about walling in the water heater with pegboard like bj383ss suggested. I did score a 3/4 sheet of pine plywood at HD last night, complained to the cashier that they only had a few sheets left and they were all warped so I got it at 30% off! I should’ve asked to grab another one for different shop projects! Made it $24!

Maybe this weekend I’ll work on the drill storage and sander station!

Looks like you've been having a lot of fun the past week or so.

Oh yeah. Definitely have! The wife has been out in the shop too and wants to work on some projects with me so that’s cool!

We’re going to finish a growler carrier this weekend. We started mocking it up last night.

Growler carrier, came out a little darker than I’d of liked. Going to sand it down a bit tomorrow to try and lighten it up.

Looks good to me. In the future use some scrap to test out your stains. I do several different ones on a piece of scrap and label what they are so on future projects I can just pull out the scrap and decide which stain I want to use. Same thing with topcoats as well.

SD: with 120 degrees during your summers i'd probably prefer to carry my beer in a cooler full of ice, but maybe that's just your method of carrying a couple of beers from the kitchen to the pool. BTW I had to Google GROWLER cause I thought it was a sandwich.

best of luck with the new bandsaw and tools and looks like the projects are already getting made.

how did you attach the metal handle to your little Growler carrier?

BJ: nice tip on the stains!! also I had to Google the NICKLE TEST and thanks for stopping in to give us rookies a few tips from a pro.

Thanks Drives. These are for carrying the growlers from your house to a bar or place like Total Wine/BevMo to get them filled. You can get them filled with your favorite IPA or whatever type of beer you like. Man I love a beer from Redmond called Mac n Jacks. Can’t get it here in AZ. My favorite beer!

Oh yes Bret, I forgot it passed the nickel test. I too had to google it. It stayed perfectly still! I need to research more on adjusting the different bearings. I’ve got the blade tension and side to side adjustment down. Watched a couple videos in that. Seemed to be pretty good out of the box but I’m a novice!

Oh yeah the pipe is just wedged tight on one end. I cut it with my angle grinder the sanded it down a bit on a wire wheel on the bench grinder. The other end is threaded so I just threaded it into the wood.

That's great that it passed the Nickel test. Not to many do anymore especially out of the box. If you get a chance I would order some Cool Blocks for you upper and lower guides.

Made some quick mounts for the mallets today. Also added an place to hang the bandsaw miter gauge.

I had the Mrs and kiddos out in the shop today crafting. We cleared a drawer out and organized all the wife’s acrylic paints and assorted brushes for craft projects. Now I have to move on building the drill wall storage because that was the drawer all my Dewalt cordless tools were in. Haha

The girls spent time painting and the wifey worked on a sign she’s making. Good times had by all!

SD: looks like a great day in the garage with your family that is for certain.

just an FYI a lot of members like storing their battery operated drills in PVC that is maybe 3 or 4 inch in diameter with a cut out to hold the drill. they mount it under cabinets usually and cut out a portion so the drill is basically at the ready to use. if you haven't seen any of those on here and can't find one i'll see if I can find some either on GJ or in my old laptop that has a lot of ORGANIZING IDEAS in it.

cheers
