Like a magpie, I'm attracted to shiny things so I was walking through Lowes one day and spotted this...

I planned to eventually pipe water into my detached garage/shop, so what the heck? A deal is a deal...looks like a bathtub in this picture, no?

So almost two years pass and I had water piped into the shop when we added a patio to the back of the house this summer. Since I couldn't find anything I liked, I decided to build a temporary cabinet out of scrap to use until such time as something popped up. I had some old 24' X 8' X 3/4" shelving that seemed to fit the bill, so a little while later I had the center cut out for the sink and then routed the edges back 3/4"...

I trimmed the edges with 3/4" X 3/4" aluminum angle and clamped them into place...

Since I was using scrap material...and I had the router out...and I did have some pegboard material left over...

...and I had paint left over...Leveled and plumbing hooked up. No leaks! Yay!!

Need something for a splash board...I have some leftover flashing material...or an old tempered glass shelf that would look good...hmm. The faucet is from Overstock.com.

You're going to love that big old sink and what a great deal. Nice job on the install. Like you said, a backsplash should be on you list or your drywall will be messed up in no time.

Allow me to make a suggestion...
Before adding a backsplash, you might consider buying a power strip (4-footer?) to mount under the pegboard wall rack over closer to the wheels. Then plug it into outlet, using maybe a 90 degree adapter to keep it all low profile. Install your easy-to-remove backsplash over the outlet to stop the tendency to plug something in there that would have a cord draping over/in the sink. Put a little cutout in it to see and reach the GFI test buttons.

Just an idea...

Nice! I like the way it came out!

did you just glue the legs or did u use brad nails to make the L shape.
I was thinking about using that style for another work table and was wondering how sturdy would it be.

I like walking through Lowes, they always have something on clearance thats worth picking up.....Like a Kobalt 30 gallon air compressor for $154 and some change! Yeah!

That works. Especially for the price.

The plastic sink that came with the workshop/house has two cracked legs and is really chipped an pitted inside. It's probably been there fifteen years. It's more like a laundry room sink. I have a feeling that when I get around to installing the bathroom I'll not put the sink in the bathroom itself, instead leaving it out in the shop.
