My garage

started by adding a 18x40 garage attached to my 15x40 shed. lots of pictures but i'll just post a few. poured 10 yards of concrete for the footer the trench was dug 3 times and i got tired of redoing it so i told the guy to fill it full of concrete.

me and my brother did all the block work.

then we took the old shed wall down. we built a 35' steel box beam to hold the shed roof up

got the first wall built with seperate box beams under each of the old shed roof rafters

then had 23tons of stone brought in to fill the inside

ran drain pipe all the way down the side for the drain that goes across the front of the garage

then it was time to start framing this was thanksgiving 08 so luckily my one other brother had this huge heater.

then it came time to finally get a floor

customize the door track so that the door would go 18" higher then is should inside

built a platform ot sted from the garage to the shed

ramp doors for where the tractor is stored in the shed

started insulation

started adding lights and electric

customized the one wall to recess the beer fridge into it

lots of electric i added almost 30 outlets and 800 watts of light and a ceiling fan

added a workbench and cabinets.
bench is 12' long 2' deep and 41" high

we added a loft at the one end

now i need to get the drywall and siding done.
with my Monte backed all the way in i still have 21 1/2 feet left and the wife Monte fits well and have plenty of room to work on and around it.

Holy cow, you guys don't mess around! That's some serious amount of work you did. I haven't seen alot of work with the metal beams etc. so that was cool to see. Also really neat that you tied into that stone building. Can you tell us more about the original building that you tied into? Also, where are you?

that shed i added it onto is roughly about 100yrs old it was part of the old farm land there before my house was built. it has a bathroom in it that i redid about 12 yrs ago but it's not functional in the winter due to freezing. there's a toilet and a wash tub and my 60 gallon compressor in there. the building is for storage and messy stuff klike the 327 i have torn apart to build for a friend. the far end the floor is a foot lower so that was my old work shop. and that's where my tractor get stored and worked on and i'm adding the parts washer in there and maybe the bead blasting cabinet. no me and my brothers don't mess around we did all of the framing and block work. the only think i paid for labor was the concrete. everything else done by me and the brothers and some help from friends. the metal is definately a different thing to work with but if done out of lumber it would've been a lot harder to do.

the roof rafter are 18 gauge
the long is 18 gauge also and the others are 20 gauge

i also added Direct tv and internet out there now.

i have pictures from start to finish but i only posted a few of them on here. it's been a long haul building it. it's been 2 years since we started it , but it was built on a tight budget and had to wait until i could get my brothers to come and do it. i'm glad it's we got done what we did now i just need money for the drywall and siding.

that garage looks sweet. i love the loft you installed. how tall is your roof? i was thinking of doing the same type of loft. looks like its only about 2 or 3 feet at its highest point?

the ceiling is 12' and slopes to 10'
the loft is 8' up

yes we used steel because of the price and also the way there was so much custom work to tie it into the original shed.

just got WIFI out there last night. my buddy set up a wireless router out there and all so no more interference from the house router.

Bob i'll let you know when we're doing it but it won't be until it gets a bit warmer out.

i picked up the siding for the garage a few weeks ago. Friday one of my brothers stopped to work on it and got the garage door wall done. lots of angles and stuff to deal with. he did a great job.

took a break from the garage this weekend.

well since it was supposed be a crappy weather Saturday i figured i'd get the decks pressure washed. i borrowed a friends gas powered one, but after i went and got gas and fired it up i realized i could PISS harder then that thing was...lol
so i brought out me small electric one and started using it after about 15-20 minutes i was like F this. i made a call to one of my brothers that does all sorts of work on and with pressure washers and cleaning systems to hook me up. and HOLY CHIT did i get hooked up check this bad mofo out.

it runs on gas , but also uses diesel to heat the water at 4 gallons per minute. and he brought so cool attachments

so here's a before shot

well get the sealer done in a few weeks.
i'll tell you what i'm sore from the pressure of that thing. i wanted to have Karen try it but it would've broke her....lmao

time for me to do some work on my own car for a change in my garage. i blew my trans back in March and now finally got the time and pieces to start reassembly. i'm taking a TH350 out and putting a 200-4r trans in. i have 4.10 gears in my rear so the overdrive will be so much better on the highway.

I put the car up on stands last night and have almost all the pieces to put it together. i bought a shifter from Shiftworks to see if i can make it work in the Monte console. it's a nice a piece seams to be well made. got a new HD flexplate and TV cable and all for it also got the Holley kickdown bracket to make sure the cable is at the correct geometry.

Nice shop build. Nice car too, you need vanity plates that read "NOTAGN" I thought it was going to be smallish at 18' but its rather large considering.

it's not to bad a size. originally it was only going to be 12' but the rafter we had were 18' this garage was built on a extreme budget that's why it's taken 2 yrs to get it to where it is.

holy **** it's been April since my last update... oh that's right the summer is here and it's been time to play..lol

well anyways i got a free sweet rolling work bench from the neighbor. I'm also using it as a desk. i got the shelves done in the corner for the PC and the stereo along with the Direct Tv box and all. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse so if i need the bench i can just roll it wherever.

Then me and Franky built a table to put my FREE glass beater cabinet onto. My friend had it given to him, but had no room for it. So he asked if I had room. I laughed and said hell I'll make room for Free...lol
My neighbor across the street had a brand new parts washer still not put together and he said here i'll never use this so i got that fro Free as well. Then I scored 6 gallons of cleaner for ...you guessed it Free as well..lol

Then we worked on cleaning the work bench off in my old work room before I had the Garage. I haven't seen this bench in years. we threw a lot away as well as added to the scrap pile. Now my son has his own work bench to use. The tractor stays in the room, but there's plenty of room to move around it.

got a little project done in the garage. i hung the 50' hose reel and installed the swivel base. my brother in law bought it for me for like 6 years ago..lol
my one brother stopped by last week and asked if i wanted a drop ceiling in the garage. he had enough tile left from another job so now i'm getting a drop ceiline all put in for FREE..

well it was a good weekend got the hardest wall of all done. one of my brothers came over and brought some scaffolding so we could get the PITA wall done. got the last fascia done on the shed.so many angles and all and it turned out awesome

here's the first piece going up. a friend of mine came over to help and also learn how to do it. AKA Rieferman

here's my brother looking at the fascia wondering how the heck he's going to finish it. he even scribed around evey stome to get the aluminum trim to look good.

here he is up on the scaffolding doing an awesome job.

i got my doors hung back up and functioning properly finally. i got the wood all wrapped with the aluminum trim and then got all the siding trim on them. was going to get the siding down, but mother nature had other plans...

i know the hinges look Chitty, but i'll change them later.

well me and a friend got the siding up on the last wall. it took most of the day saturday. mainly because of the ground sloping the way it does. it turned out awesome.

then on Sunday we towed my buddies 69 Chevelle over so i can work on it for him. It's a very nice car. he had it painted 2 times because he didn't like the first Blue.... spent another 5-6K repainting it

well i got 11 sheets of plywood up and picked up the heavy A$$ wood/coal stove.

well 22 sheets of plywood hung in the last 2 weekends. We're supposed to paint it this coming Saturday. I tired of blowing 2x4's out of my nose from all the saw dust i'v been inhaling...lol
Hopefully it gets done then. the neighbor and his friend and even the wifwe said they would help.

well it's finally freaking painted.... from 9 am until 7 pm did 3 coats and went thru 9 gallons of paint. it turned out damn nice it really brightened it up a lot.

next step put this back together and get the drop ceiling started and the stove hooked up.
