Hey bluedog....I'm with ya, but I notiuced it's post and beam....Doesn't that mean the header in this case is only for the minute load above it? Kinda like a hillbilly header paralell with trusses? Just a thought... Oh and a quick edit....check post #32 on the first page, I believe...The inspector called out the lack of a header under the rafters on the cupolo...
I had wondered that as well and then read on...No disrespect, just saying...

Not to jump in but I am in the middle of a geobarn build. 24x30 for the shell -34k with hemlock - not doug. fir. Another 14 for excavation and foundation - so far. Granted I needed about 4k in fill and back fill and then carting out extra loam

I still have to have a trench dug for electric. - that should be included but will have to bring in a 4" base of sand for about a 100ft run.

I am upgrading my houre to 200amp and running a 100 amp panel to the barn. Electric will run about 5k. I would say total is 55 - 60k

I had never hear of GeoBarn before I saw another thread and did a search of the forum for others. I particularly liked this one as my high school / college car was a 69 GTO vert. Very nice looking barn btw.

So, I did a pretty pee-poor job of keeping this thread updated over the years, in part I think because my progress in finishing the barn is geologic in nature i.e. millimeters of progress per year or so it seems.

Although I have posted pics of parts of the barn in other threads when I have needed help, I think the last time I showed the upstairs in this thread it looked like this:
DSCN2599.jpg

It now looks more like this, from a similar angle of view:

Here are some other shots of the upstairs.

And here is one coat of Sherwin Williams exterior oil-based slow-drying primer on the lower area of the floor.

I should be able to show some pics of the painted floor tomorrow.

Of course, there were a ton of "in-between" shots of the area over the last handful of years that I haven't posted. I figured the "today" pics were the most interesting.

Nice to see that you are still progressing towards 'BarNirvana'! lol
How about posting a pic of the barn's current 'patina' it has acquired during this epoch. A barn that looks that good after the crew left can only improve with age.

I deeply regret not painting the barn as soon as it was finished. Perhaps my worries are unfounded, but I wish I had gotten the wood protected from the elements. As it stands, I have painted one and one-third sides of the barn. I just haven't had time to do that job. I'll take some exterior shots. Perhaps the patina will look better to the eyes of others than it does to my own.
