Hi, I joined the forum recently and have become addicted. So here is my work in progress workbench. This is my first welding project, I am using a gmc 140 stick welder, Bought at a garage sale for 30$. The rod were given to me for free and are probably a waste considering they are chrome satin, but anyway. I want a durable workbench, that would suit my need and have all my tool organise and at fingers reach.

I started with 50mm and 25mm heavy box section and was planning on building my own sets of drawers. At this stage I had no idea what to use for the top, I got a quote for $350 for 6mm plate and That was not going to happened

then after reading and getting inspired by some of the work on the forum I changed my plan and ordered some toolboxes, 50% off bargain. also I ordered the 36" not the 25" showing in the pic.

I scored another good deal on a full 3mm sheet because the top didn t look too pretty. So I went with it. My bench ends up being 2400 long by 850 wide and 900 high (at this stage I wasn t happy with the height)

I found some fairly large bolts at work(they hold are 3 metres wheels on our 350 tonnes belly dumper trucks), the nuts is 1 3/4 which fit inside 50mm box with very little grinding required. I am a pro grinder anyway after all that welding.

I am satisfied now with the height and have the ability to adjust the bench from 950mm to 1050mm which is great. they act as levelling leg as well.

here how it seats for now, waiting for the toolboxes, the botum frame will come off and be replaced by 50mm box to accommodate the cabinet.

have a good one, more update soon

Very nice, you'll find that this forum can be quite expensive, if you disagree, just stick around for a little while, you'll see! Welcome to the forum.

JBMariez........welcome to GJ. Looks like a great start to a bench, and looking forward to the progress pics. I'm the design will be copied by a few.

If you would, could you put your state or country into your profile? It really helps with answering questions at times. No particular need for a city, but N,S,E, or W, helps to.

Thank you, and again Welcome to our site. We hope you hang around and look around, and no doubt you will have some neighbors on here also.
