Cool vice. Looks like a 450? I'd probably start by dumping the feed screw in some Evaporust and seeing where you're at.

I don't know. I have never thought about a vise being anything other than a tool. I will admit, this site has got me interested in preserving it. Any info is appreciated.

100% restore it.

I wouldn't give up my father's Sears vice for anything even though they're a dime a dozen on eBay.

I've restored a couple ones. One almost just like that.

Evaporust works, but I also had good luck with Oven cleaner spray from the dollar tree and a wire wheel.

Better to paint with any good enamel paint, but engine enamel will handle heat better.
Any paint pen can be used for the lettering.
