I recently inherited my great grandfather's tools from my uncle who recently passed. My great grandfather lived from 1907-97 and was a machinist and had his own shop in Houston. During WWII he made small parts for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft and retired in the late 60 or early 70s I think.
The toolbox in a Craftsman 6500 made around 1985 judging by the sticker decal and Sears logo, and is in very nice shape except for the large dent in the back. Some of the tools I think are my uncle's because they are too new.
Let's start with the screwdrivers from right row top to bottom: Shockproof Magnetic screwdriver which I think is made by Rosco because I have seen an identical one under that brand, Workman's Choice (Walmart?) Phillips #2, 4 in One stubby screwdriver, 2 generic made in USA slotted drivers which I think are made by Great Neck, 2 Wizard branded Stanley 100 Plus slotted drivers, Stanley 1721 Phillips #1, Stanley 3010 pocket, Fuller USA tack puller, 2 Rosco slotted and one Phillips #2.
Left row: Craftsman ratcheting offset slotted/Phillips #2 made by General, Liquid Wrench promo pocket screwdriver, no name spark plugs tester, and South Bend Bait Company promo screwdriver.
I'll be posting more photos later.

Pretty cool stuff! I’d love to see any old machinist tools if he still had them.

Had an opportunity about 10 years ago to get some of my grandfathers tools from a cousin who inherited them. Unfortunately I didn’t have the money to ship it across the continent at the time. Still regret it to this day.

Thanks. There's not very many machinist tools left as these tools he kept for around the house work after he retired in the mid 70s. Here's all I found: A Dunlap 9" rule from a T square, Brown and Sharpe 6" rule, Union Abbaye swiss pattern file, and a homemade whatsit with a sharpened end like a chisel, serrations on one edge and marked Moly (Molybdenum I guess).

The whatsit appears to be a hand crafted scraper made from a used sawblade, hence the appearance of the serrations. That toolbox with the label is sharp!

I have that same toolbox from the mid 70s. Mines not as purty tho, but very usable. It has been my portable box in every vehicle I ever owned since turning 16 and getting a license in 75....except for this damn Ram pickup, won't fit on passenger side floor or behind seat. It rode on the passenger front floor in every Cheby truck I ever owned.
