^ i did consider it mate, but the idea got too hard when i worked out how much it will weigh when full. Also i have no need for the truck in any other way. My dad purchased the truck at a farm clearing sale 50km's away when i was in my early twenties. he paid around $200- for a running truck with ****** all rust! My brother drove it back and on the way under heavy braking the windscreen fell out, but he managed to catch it and pull it back in with out damaging it. If i do take it off of the chassis its on it'll be to put another trailer chassis setup underneath. - And without wheels under it wouldn't be a gypsy it'd just be a cabin- and i'm not a sailor.

Work on the gypsy has come to a halt, i've been spending a lot of my time coming up to xmas sorting stuff out and wheeling and dealing old enamel signs, cars and old car and bike parts so as i can have my head above water money wise through the holidays. I have thought in my dealing managed to get most of the steel needed to finish off the frame, so after xmas i'll hopefully be on the job sorting it all out. I have decided to rip out all of the flooring as it's stuffed and i'd rather replace it all before i start filling it all with ****.
I'e made a few purchases at a recent deceased estate sale including some smaller "rota" bolt tray sets as well as a heap of tools, nuts, bolts, wood and junk- the bad thing about all the stuff was that it was all covered in rat and mice poop and urine - even when you cut the wood you can smell the piss- not cool, so the wood that was destined for the floor will got to fire wood and i'm currently designing and making a rotary parts washer similar to a front loader washing machine in a way so as i can wash all the poop and grease off all of the bits.
Anywy will post some pics of the progress when it happens.

A Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Well i haven't posted for a fair while on this project. I haven't touched this project for almost a year or more, due to lack of interest and just too many other jobs etc to do. I recently moved the truck out of my dad's shed to make way for a big cleanup and sort out. I recently lost my job as an apprentice Boilermaker, so I'm 3rd year and stranded mid apprenticeship, looking for another place to take me on. Ive been working 200km from home and only home on weekends so any the home i try and spend it with the wife, out picking or repairing my cars and the like.

I've recently decided that I'm just going to buy a 20ft container and set it up as a small workshop and storage area. and i can easily hire a truck or pay to have it moved when needed. I realised by the time i got the gypsy workshop setup as cladded I'm going to be close to $4000 (plus the time) and the truck would not take the amount of weight of stuff i want to put in it. also i found falling from the height of the truck tray is not nice. So soon as i get another job and the cash flowing again i will purchase a 20ft container ($2000) and get it transported out to the farm ($800). so even at $2800 or so out lay I'm well in front, with a finished outer structure, two closing doors, lockable, water tight, easy access etc, etc. plus it gives me four wall and a roof, i can cut grind and weld stuff too!!!!
So when that occurs i'll post it all up so you can check it all out. I may start a new thread i'll see.
cheers tyler

Hi Tyler, Sorry to hear you are out of a job and glad to see you posting again. Container sounds like a much better idea so keep this topic going as you update and swap across to the container. Keeps continuation to your plans and easier for other to follow along.

I have two containers here for storage.

I'm so hooked!!! I'm hanging around for this. FYI, if I remember right, a very famous machinist, customizer, pinstriper did most of his work out of a bus. Maybe you've heard of him? VonDutch.

Hello everyone, just an update to say I now have a job. I am a third year adult apprentice boilermaker with only 12 months left of my apprenticeship, till I'm signed off as a tradesman. So I'm now slowly getting back on track with paying bills which is great! I feel for anyone who loses their job and has to borrow money off friends and family. It's a **** situation
In shed news, I have been flat out nearly every weekend making scrapmetal sculptures. Losing my job was the push I needed to contact a upper class art gallery. Which is going well with pieces Selling nearly every fortnight!
I will do another update when have more time.
