Hey guys, just joined here, have been looking for a site like this for along time, and have spent alot of time looking! Great place to look around. I am including some pictures of my shop, which is going to take alot of work, and cash. But Ive got a good start as long as I clean it out. I inherited my Grandads farm, and his shop has been unused and nasty for 20 years. I have made alot of progress cleaning it out, but have a long way to go. I would love to insulate it, but slowly, as to spend money slowly. any ideas on cheap insulation? after the insulation, I want to cover it with fiberboard..

Great place to be..

Jason..

The Boxes and tools are mine, the older stuff like the wagon wheel torch dolly was his, as was just about everything else that looks rusty. He was a master welder by trade, He made aluminum tankers for gas, oil, milk etc.

The Deere is mine, I got for nothing, and restored it. It runs on Propane, and it is also a work in progress. Thats my daughter learning how to use a hand clutch, before she is 9 years old! She drives the deere great, and has never drove a car!

when we insulated a stick built shop at our farm some one was tearing down a old machine shed and we pulled alot of that insulation that is encased in white plastic for a 20 bucks it was alot of work but we got enough to fill a 8x8x26ft enclosed car trailer. we found it on craigslist under salvage rights. I dont know if i would do it again but just throwing the idea out there i was 16 semi stupid and sick of freezing my **** off.

On a planet with alot of really Stupid people
Thats a nice old shop with alot of history and character. Your grandfather certainly must have thought alot of you to leave it to you.
Calling it a $h!thole seems an insult. I would say that you have a goldmine full of memories. Both Past and future !

PS, Nice tractor. You say it runs on propane. Very interesting. More info and pics of both the farm and tractor would be enjoyable.

Thats a heck of a cozy looking shed/building/shop you got going. I consider myself envious. Guys spend hours trying to replicate the cozy old school feel you've got going on there. Treasure it.

What size is the shop area and can you show us the outside?

You can be proud to carry on your grandad's good work ethic.

Justinmc is right about that old school feel.

Pls keep us posted on your progress.

Good luck guy.

It might be awhile to get outdoor pictures, but I will try. Reason: I leave for work at dark, and get home at dark this time of year. If I have a weekend off to do it, i will, but there is alot of junk lying around that I HAVE to get rid of!

You're in Texas--why bother with insulation?

As others said, it's a great old shop with character. I wouldn't do much to it but maybe add a kegerator and a stereo.

I could not see any numbers on the side, so I just guessed. We used a 730 Diesel with a gas pony motor for years. My dad gave/sold it to a nephew who said he was going to restore it. I imagine it will rust down where it sits, just like his dad did with a propane MinnieMO.
