I enjoyed following along John's posts when he was active. From his HF setup to the big Macsimizer, it was a good story. I know he is, or atleast was on IG.

This thread is pure gold. I didn't bump it, I promise. But thank you to whoever did bump it. I'm not a big harbor freight fan but I have a difficult time arguing with a mechanic named John.
Ton ton, he was legit. The basic premise… if you do not want to read this really long thread… is that he geared up with a huge amount of HF tools… and he did fine with them…
When he saved up money, he replaced a lot of it with truck tools. I want to say… mostly MAC or Matco. When this thread was going on, a lot of us followed it. It is interesting, and worth a read. If there was ever a real test of HF tools in a real world auto shop environment… this is it.

I started on p.1, and when I went to p.2, & saw "to p.28," I skipped to there. No I've never seen that many HFT in 1 place, besides the store. The latest posts say he replaced much of his stuff w/name-brand equipment.
I have a few HFT items, some have worked well, doing a needed job right-away instead of spending significantly more $ from a name-brand supplier.
There was the 'cat noise from inside the in-law's home,' which was solved by buying a fiber-optic hand-held camera (< $100) to locate where the cat was. A Sawzall job in the plaster wall, and there it was, and released. We gave it up for adoption, and a recent widow took it, helping her over her recent loss. She called us to give us an update, both were doing fine.
An impact demo hammer/drill (<$100) which demo'ed several bathrooms, drilled holes for hilti tap-in threaded pins to anchor a 10' X 20' building to the slab, and broke-up a concrete sidewalk and a slab for a 15' X 15' storage shed I demo'ed for the F.I.L. There were more times, more uses.
Like John, the O.P., I had good luck w/the HFT I used. Like him, I also saved receipts, and used them to file for a rebate from the class-action lawsuit. If you had receipts, you got the best rebate deal, I got a store coupon for ~$400, I used it to buy this:

I have the MIG spool gun for aluminum, a TIG torch, a MIG torch, and it does stick welding also. I am a neophyte welder, so I'm still learning.

a waste of money , as are those pickle forks with no inside camber.Can someone tell me what these 3 tools are. Or even item numbers.
Many of the other tools pictured I tossed in the dumpster.

Timing belt tool. You can lock the belt on one gear and rotate it to line up the belt on another gear.
