Moving stuff around, I ended up putting the 3/8 and 1/2" drive from that crazy big CM socket set in the top drawer. 1/4" sockets/drive tools/accessories now live in a small side drawer, but I will post those as the get organized.

1/2 drive stuff (big drawer) and 1/4 (small)

Screwdriver mess (gonna redo that, probably condense to small drawer) and 3/8 stuff

Still gotta do all the pliers and then the bottom drawers will be air tools/impact sockets/accessories.

My buddy bought 4 sets online last year and I bought one from him. I dont think the are vintage but they sure are beefy. I will look for markings tonight.

I took the 12 point stuff out and keep it stored away from my tool box. I don't have much of a need for it, and it opened up a lot of space in the "HF special".

I need to get that toolbox now. I put the 12 pts on a set of the Harbor Freight trays and the 6 pts on a bunch of rails from HF. I still have a bit of overflow in 1/2", so I think I need one more rail to finish it.

That's a cool little pot you've got that C-clamp sitting in. I find small stainless pots like that come in pretty handy. Old mixing bowl?

Sicne we are talking about sockets here, who makes a nice rail that is not too expensive? The HF metal rails look pretty cheap (and they are a $1 a piece). I do not want to do trays as I like to grab a socket set and go, not necessarily just one socket. How are the HF plastic rails? Lowes sells a real nice aluminum rail but they are big $$$. Are the Snap on rails expensive?

HF plastic ones arent that great..and are brittle.

I got rid of those and this whole set is on Snapon rails, cost around $75 for them. I like them alot better.

if you got these expect for all your sockets to fall off all over the place when you pick it up.. they dont hold very well.

for portability i would look at the plastic ones with the carry handle and a magnetic strip down the middle..hold deep on one side and short on the other.

This is all my dad uses on his sockets and I have never had any issue with the falling off, granted his are probably all Snap On rails.

Those wood handle screwdrivers were originally made by Irwin and issued to army mechanized units during WWII and Korea. My dad has a set of them he got in 1950 while his unit was in Korea. The new production ones are Chinese imports. Garrett Wade sells them.

yeah i was specifically referencing the 99 cent ones at harbor freight. mine are okay for 1/4 but the 1/2 are way too heavy for them. now i use the harbor freight trays but there not very portable

I'm trying the plastic ones from HF. I don't think I'd pick one up by the end and there's no handle, but so far so good.

I have a set of the plastic HF ones. They aren't bad. I stick them in my junkyard bag, they've held up well so far.

I don't know why I thought the Snap on basic metal rails were more money, but I see they are only $2.50 each. I can swing that, maybe I was looking at something else, I see they have some other fancy clip rails for $30 each.

Yep, the SO ones are very reasonable and you can mix and match them. I used the 1/4" rails that are short for the BIG 1/2" sockets, so the rail doesnt get overloaded. I did that to optimize the rails and get what I needed. Well worth the money.

I'm thinking of some of those magnetic style ones for my impact sockets though, as much as I hate the style I cant think of any better solutions.
