my home brewed vise & grinder stands

I decided to make a stand for my Parker 4" vise today, and I modified an old vise stand I had made for my bench grinder...

I had an old Reed vise on this stand, but no longer have it, so this will hold my 8" bench grinder. Enjoy....

Now I just need to clean and paint them, I'm thinking safety yellow...

That otta work! I'm going to make me a stand out of an old Ford Magnum 500 factory mag wheel and fill it with concrete to make it stable. Its got a 2 inch center hole so I'll get some 2 inch heavy wall tubing and cut to lenght. Might even fill the tube with concrete.

You might not be able to move it, but it sure will be stable! I like the Magnum wheel idea, I hope you don't need it for your car....

Is that an old I beam? That has got to be pretty heavy!

Yes, an I beam for each one, 4"x6". They do weigh a good bit, but not too heavy that I can't pick them up. One weighs about 20lbs per foot, and the other about 15lbs per foot, and they are about 34" tall. The top and bottom plates are 1/4" thick.

Those look good man, if you ever lock yourself out of the house, you could use them as a battering ram.
