I originally posted most of this in the Introduction forum, but it doesn't seem that that section is viewed that often, si decided to post up over here as well.

My buddy Zach (Builditbigger) turned me on to this place and I have lurked for a while, but I figured I would post up and introduce myself.

My name is Marty (some folks call me "MO") and I have a home shop which I will post about here and i run a speed shop in Dallas, Georgia too.

Although I make my living as an attorney, cars are my passion. I love all things automotive.

Zach has posted some of these pictures in the night shots thread, but I am pretty sure you guys have not seen all of them.

Here is when my shop was being built. It is a 40 x 52 metal building with 4 lifts and HVAC.

As the building was being erected:

And shortly after the building itself was fiunished up:

Then when I started moving my junk in:

The first sign I had my buddy paint for the shop (this later became the logo for our speed shop):

After my buddy got done with the signs for the front of the shop:

A company that i do a lot of business with used my shop and cars for a few pages of their calendar, so the photographers went to work:

And some of the shots they took:

The shop is never done and i am always collecting and adding stuff to it.

Here are the outside walls:

And a few things I added to the outside recently:

And no shop is complete without a Battery Tender. I love this thing!!!:

Marty that is a sweet shop and an even sweeter collection of toys in the shop. I have to ask though for the younger kids looking at career choices what type of law do you practice as I am sure with those toys you are not a public defender :D. By the way I would bet if you PM Bull he could delete your second thread.

Believe it or not, I am just a trial attorney for the DOJ. I used to make my money in private practice and as a COO of a client's company. I left those days (and hours) behind when my health started to fail and I left NY.

I am happier now. Or so my doctors tell me. :wtf:

Wow is all that I can say! Your collection of autos and signs is amazing. I'm building a 72 Nova that is going to look similar to the ones that you have. You also have one of my other dream cars and that is a 93 Cobra. I can't get over how well those Cobras have held there value over the years.

I remember seeing your garage in the Garages at night Thread and I feel in love with your garage. The guys that took the pictures of your garage did a wonderful job. I'd love to get ahold of them and see if I can get some poster size prints that they took. Thanks so much for sharing your amazing place and collection!

Ryan, I own the photo rights and am happy to share the hi-res digital image with you if you want. You just have to agree to send me some Skyline chilli. LOL!!!

The '93 is a great car. It has 18,000 miles on it and rides like new (except for the ashtray, which Ford designed not to work and they did an excellent job of that! LOL!!).

Here is another night shot that they took that I love:

Mo you gotta a deal. I'd be more than happy to send you some Skyline. I'll get in touch with you through PM.

That is amazing that the Cobra only has 18K. One day that I get one I will look for either the red or teal. Back in 98 I bought a 98 Cobra fright after I got out of college and one Friday night I took it to the dragstrip and there was a 93 teal Cobra there. Every since then I have always had a soft spot for those 93 Cobras.

Your buddy that painted the signs did he freehand paint those or did he mask and airbrush? They turned out awesome as well. I think I may do something similar. I've got all kinds of great ideas from your shop. Thanks again for sharing.

I was slobbering and drooling the same as the other above me until I came to the KIA sign. To me that is offensive as farting in church. Surley you could use it as agarbage can lid or a stepping stone.

Ryan, first off come down South and drive the Cobra. Seriously. I drive everyone of my cars -- that is what they are for and i am happy to share the experience and passion.

I used to spend a lot of time in Cincy as a kid -- my Mom's brother and his kids all lived there so we drove from NY to Cincy probably 5 times a year on avarerage. Thus the love for Skyline!

The signs are done freehand. He did my wagon and wrecker. It is amazing to watch him work. The process is thread worthy in itself. I will start some threads and show you. If you are a guy car/gear head like I am, you will really dig it!

The KIA sign is there as a joke. Not everyone sees it when they lfirst look around the shop -- then they see it and the comments start! :lol_hitti

AWESOME place "Mo"!! How cool are those signs, the memorabilia and the cars - Ya got us all drooling here!! That Vette would be ANYONE'S baby!! Nice to hear someone left the "rat race" before dying in it - seriously.

Are the wires on the Battery Tender long enough to reach cars in different parts of the shop, or do you have to remove the batt's?

Thanks for the complements.

The tender is located at the front-center of the shop. I then use the Deltran (manufacturer of Battery Tender) extensions (they make 12.5 and 25 foot extensions and they are modular so you can couple a few tprgether if need be (which is what I do for the cars further from the Tender). I do NOT remove batteries from the cars -- it defeats the purpose of this set up.

I have a garage in my house and use one there too (for another three cars and a lead to the driveway for my truck).

Are you close to Atlanta? I've got some family in the Douglasville area and when we go down to visit them I may have to sneak away for a little bit to take you up on your offer. If you are up this way let me know I'd be more than happy to treat you to some Skyline.

You'll have to do a post showing the process that your buddy did to make the signs. I've watched some pinstripers at shows and it is pretty cool to watch.

I almost bought a place in Douglasville but the seller/builder wanted me to pay all cash up front for my shop and I said "no" which was probably a smart move. Never let a builder hold your money!

If you get down this way, come out and visit. My wife doesn't get the whole "garage thing" but she is a good sport about it and a great cook, so I let her stay around! :bounce:

I may be out in Cincy some time soon to visit family.

I will do a thread on teh painting for sure.

Marty if you head up to Cincy you are welcome to stop off to stretch your leggs in Louisville. We have Skyline here as well although growing up in the south I still havent figured out why they are calling Spaggheti Chili ? :D

That expalins it. Counted 11 cars including the hauler in one of your pictures and figured there was more garage space somewhere on the property since I know you ain't parking those babies outside. Mo you got quite a place filled with some serious machines. I must have looked back at the pictures a dozen times in the last 15 minutes!! Congrats on "leaving the rat race" up here in the NE. I'm in it for the long haul, family and all so decided to finally build my own shop. Not quite like yours cause land is $$$$ but enough to keep me busy.
Enjoy your passion my friend!

I used to live in Westchester, so I was your neighbor and I know what land costs up their. :(

I had a one car garage in a 1920's built house, so you know how small that is.

I rented a (barely) four car garage in Croton and thought it was the shiznit. When I left NY the only places I would look at were places where I could set up my home (not commercial) shop.

I wish I new about this site before I got started. I made a few mistakes setting it up but really can't complain! I should have built the shop closer to the street so that I had more "storage" area behind it. Due to code, I would not have been able to wall it in, but I could have sheltered it with a roof. Oh well!
