If I could just buy something that would actually save space, I probably would but my topchest drawers are only 10-3/4" deep. The wrench racks on the market could be cut to fit, but storage density would still be far less than optimal.
I've used PVC to fabricate odds and ends in the past, and it's a great choice for being economical and easy to work with. Looking at some of the commercial wrench racks gave me this idea for using 1/2" PVC:
Since my tools will not be moved around, I think this single tube concept will be all I need. Otherwise I'd double up.
The execution on this is rough, but proof of concept is there. I just eyeballed everything this first time.
Another thing might do is fabricate the same thing using aluminum tubing. It;s easy enough to work with but would be a lot more durable in this application.
