My inadequate garage.

Hi everybody, First post here. You can see I registered a little while ago. I have been lurking since then but I waited until I could include pics before I posted.

This is my little garage that came with the house. I have plans to replace it but it will have to do for now.

Can you name that vehicle?

I live in is an old coal mining town. When I bought the house there were several lengths of track from the old coal mine cars. I cut a piece of one and laid it across the top of the walls for a place to hang an engine from. I thought it was a pretty good reuse of materials and it didn't cost anything.

You can see I've got it well packed with stuff. The interior dimensions are only about 13'x18' and 8' tall. I am going to replace it with something about 25x30 with a second floor apartment that can be rented out, radiant floor heat in the garage and apartment and a partial basement under the garage floor for storage.
I would start on it today but I am currently working on a major remodel of my house. My wife won't let me put off the house project. Something about needing to finish the basement and build a baby room for the kid that will be here in about 7 months (sheesh women).

That baby thing is going to put a damper on your plans, big guy. Now you are going to have to wait until the munchkin is about 15 before you can to get back to your projects....unless your wife likes hanging out in the garage getting greasy - then you'll be fine.

I live in the old town area of Lafayette. Nice quiet place to live.

The kid isn't here yet. Will arrive in about 7 months.

Probably a fair assesment. On the positive side my tools and equipment are never very far from where I am working.

Personally, I like those older garages. They have a lot of character. Box car siding, exposed rafter tails, carriage house doors, very cool!

My brother built his Dart in a shop that size, so I know it gets/feels crowded, but it's definately workable.

Maybe small but its cool, ran a dirt car out of one like that years ago. Painted the floor gray, walls white inside with about 6 big double flourescent lights...really brightened it up inside. Man I though I was in high heaven.

That is a IH Scout built in my home town of FT. Wayne, In. They closed the plant after a 10 month long strike back in 79.
