They did! I wanted 24 feet to the peak, for a loft. We have a bylaw that garage height may only be 14'9 to the peak. I got 18 feet, so a loft is out, not worth it for me. I went with scissor trusses. So lots of head room for a lift if I want. They gave me the sq footage I wanted so I geuss I won there! Basically the garage is three parts. The "shed" is8x14. The car part is 24x24 with 10 foot walls. The shop is 20x34 with 14 foot walls.

She is a english mastiff. We rescued her. She is small for the breed I think. 120# she's 2 years old. Great dog. My 2 year old son puts Lego in her mouth and she doesnt flinch

Ben the best concrete guy in Red Deer worked on my floor until 2am....trucks in back ally at 8:30 am.

He polished the chit out of it, worked the hardener in perfectly. Over and above my expectations. I can drop a hammer and it bounces.

Electrical budget was blown. It was my only real shock when it came to costs. I figured I'd spend $2500-$3000.....FAIL !

I was 3x that easy. I had planned on putting T5 lights up but after the wiring budget blown. I went with T8 from HD for now.

Drywall went up... I didn't take many pics while they were doing it... I couldn't stand to see my shiny floor all covered in drywall dust and mud.
All around the bottom of entire garage we put in the moisture barrier drywall...sorry I forget what they call it.

Temp Drain line!

Got drain line bent up for furnace.
For those who ask. I priced out in floor heating and it was going to be anywhere from $9000 to $17000 is the quotes I got. My father-inlaw has it. To be honest I don't like it in a garage. It's too hot, laying on floor for me. Plus I did my whole heat system for $1800,furnace,round vent pipe and metal gas line and fittings.

It blows hot air across cars and keeps shed at far end plenty warm. I have zero moisture problems. I keep the ceiling fans on low in the winter to keep air moving.. So far so good

So here's a mistake I made! I built this Allen block steps with pavers as a floor to be able to get to the main man door.
Then back filled dirt and sod around it. .... Hated it, it was just too hard to slope it to get good drainage and be able to land in shed door with in reason.

You can kind of see it in this pic, sorry it's all I could find.

Anyway! More work!

One thing I'm soo glad I did... 48" man door to shed to get lawn mowers etc in-out with ease. Also notice all doors out swing.. Little less easy to break in. I should have took a pic but there is a 1/4" flat bar framed in where the dead bolt sets into. Should slow them down a little!

He also upped me bad on the garage work bench dept!!! A DSW custom...it's like $600 a foot! Nice but mine gets used too much!

I listened to a electrician, told me it was a big enough breaker box. I should have gone with my gut! I have 2 MT spots well 4 if I go buy some different breakers and shorten things up

I just put Color mixed into concrete then he polished and polished!, it was coldish..when we poured so after he was done he put a lot of sealed on knowing it would flake off and turn white. He was just trying to slow the moisture from coming out too fast. So I have just left it and this summer I'll rent a polisher/scrubber to take off the bad sealer and re do it. It should come out gun metal ish from the pieces I've tried.

I don't think people realize how little it adds to the cost. Considering you have to stair at it for the rest of your life!

Scissor trusses and dormers is what I tell everyone building a garage. Makes for a way better space inside IMO

Hers the latest work bench and cupboards.

Just added some bolt bins!

The bench just has 3/4"plywood for now. Plan is 1"1/2" butcher block. I will have a rolling metal welding bench and I dont care for metal bench tops... Hard on tools!

sure like having things put away in own spot vs on a pallet rack

very happy with the quality for the price of the Newage Pro cabinets. Plan is to order 2 more uppers for wall along with bolt bins and 4 full size locker ones for the other side of garage. We have the costco SnapOn pallet racking right now. Which is great stuff but my goal is to have everything put away out of sight.

I have two questions about your man door installs.

You said outward swinging doors are harder to get into. Why?


And installed flat bag stock behind or in front of the door frame where the stricken slides through? Is is just screwed into/between the framing? That's sounds like a good idea.
