So, with a CL asking price of $20 and a take home price of $15 I just had to buy it. It started up right away, ran very well with no vibration and took a reasonably long time to come to a stop so I'm comfortable with the bearings at this time.
The original badge was very abused and borderline unreadable. As I wasn't opening up the motor I didn't want to remove the original badge and risk having the back end of the rivets fall into the case and cause a disaster so I will just paint over it and apply some sort of decal or sticker to the plate. As I usually use my machines I'm not interested in accurate restorations. I do refurbishing which gives me the leeway as o how I rebuild.
I was able to read the number 1Z707 on the badge but couldn't tell if there was a letter after the number. Nor does not indicate a year of manufacture so any ideas? The only oval Dayton badges I found where red and silver whereas mine is red silver and black so I don't know if mine is an older or newer generation. From what I could read the info was basically the same on both badges. It does indicate that it is a 3/4 h.p. but does not specify a wheel diameter. Upon removal the wheels they are marked 7" but there seemed to be room for 8" wheels so I don't know if these wheels are originals. The base has a flat front with a simple toggle switch. Other red badged models have a raised step on the front with a toggle.
The screws, bolts nuts and threads are all SAE so at least I pretty sure it was USA made.

It does indeed look grubby but disassembly is complete, clean up is done and repaint is in progress. More pics to come
