Snap-on HJ47ACF pliers with bolt grip.... anyone have these? Do you like them? I don’t know why I bought them other than I thought they may be useful next year when dad says the baler is “field ready” and I spend a week fixing it again.

Any thoughts.

I have those. They are worse than useless if the bolt is tight. But I don't care, I had to have them

I have ZERO use for that tool, and yet I pine for it.

I mean, I sat down and looked for an excuse to buy it. Couldn't find one. Not really sure what the express purpose is.

My only thoughts are that it’s going to be hard to get the leverage you require.

I’m not convinced about the shape of the jaws either. I understand why they have made them that way, but you’re always going to be struggling if you don’t have parallel jaws.

I think you would be better off either with parallel jaw pliers such as the Mauns shown below (great for smaller fasteners) or the Knipex Pliers Wrench. The latter allows for considerable clamping force, which is what you need. There’s a reason they are so popular!

Mine was trying to hold bolts in place on idler pulleys on a Hesston 956 baler when re assembling drive chains. You work above your head for a couple of them if you’re fixing it in the field and a wrench is basically useless until you have the nut started.

I bought a pair 3 weeks ago. Used them a couple of times, ok. I have a habit of buying things I don't need.

I bought a pair last week. I liked the three adjustment positions, and the deep cross-hatched bite pattern of the jaws. The hex-gripping feature seemed potentially useful, maybe to hold a loose bolt while removing the nut on the other side of a bracket or panel. I guess time will tell how useful they really are. Just another weapon in the arsenal...
