Adsonsvd,

The table looks great.

As racingtadpole said, the recessed spot will come in handy if/when you decide to go TIG.

Thanks Duker, Stole most of the idea's from you :) thanks for such a great thread about your table!!!! I don't know mine would have been as good if i didnt have your build as reference!

Thanks again

Shane,

Thank you for the comments. I found many of the ideas for my table on other threads as well so I am glad I could contribute back. Your going to enjoy having that surface to work on!

DUkers,

I already am loving the flat top.

Will be starting my sons Radio Flyer chassis this week.

I have added some extra storage which should come in handy.

Im going to get some use out of it now, as I won't be painting it until i Move to my new Garage.

I even fitted my Coke Bottle Opener. Which is more likely to see Corona before Coke HAHA.

Steel cOating in Austrillia is weld able and doesn't require removal. Just finished fab of 50,000m of steel for Karara iron ore and the removal the coating wasn't .Your drive brick looks like it is made with the same brick used in my house in Perth.

Good looking table you have there, a very good looking first project.....

In one of your earlier posts you mentioned the "tip welding over" - that was something I thought was "par for the course" with a MIG, until I discovered anti-spatter spray.
Any welding supply shop sells it (I think I recall seeing some at SuperCheap as well) - buy a couple of cans (you don't use very much, it's just good to have a spare can on the shelf), spray it all over the tip and up into the nozzle before you start welding - it will change your life!

A cheap alternate for anti-spatter spray is PAM or other non-stick cooking spray....
Enjoy your welder and wishing you many happy projects...

The far side of crazy.. but sometimes Australia
I think I might be tempted to find an alternative to those plastic trays, they will fill up with dust and snot from the grinders, and are potentially flammable (learnt this the hard way).

You vice may move around a bit with the tubing being sized like it is. Make your accessory tube out of 40x40x3 SHS and your receiver out of 50x50x5, does require you to remove the seam on the inside, but its a nice snug fit. The logic behind using the 3mm wall in the 40mm is that its a structural size with rounded corners and slides in with less effort.

Looks good.

Racing,

Thanks for your comments. I thought about the plastic trays but As they sit under the top, and under the solid end of the top I'm hoping they will be ok. Worst case i can get rid of them. I have welded nuts along the 50x50 and put some Eye bolts (to make them easy to turn by hand) and the vice is quiet solid. i have only mounted my small vice here as it is only for light stuff I have my big one mounted to a fixed bench.

I would have liked to go with the SHS you mentioned but i didn't have any so I went this way, I am happy with firm it feels.

I have not painted it to give me a chance to alter anything i need to.

Thanks again for taking the time to help.
