Hey guys, I thought I'd have a thread for easy reference for me. I just hung the doors for my wall cabinets and have quite a bit more to go but here is the progress thus far.

Before:

Current (the big one needs another coat of stain to make it darker like the others, I think):

The inside of the big door (yes it was a pain to get done)

I'm learning a lot about carpentry. This is my first set of cabinets to build.

Looks like you did nice on the cabinets.

If i were to try and build that the moment you opened the door would result in the whole thing wildly exploding like in the movies.

I have a six month old so getting time to work on the mancave is hard. the old workbench was always meant to be temporary. 24x48", too high, flimsy, unlevel. I finally got time to start on my new workbench this evening after I ran the new wiring to keep everything clean looking. Installed a light switch for my overhead lamp too :)

the new work surface will be a 30x48" that actually extends to that stupid curb so I can get a stool if necessary.

Bolted the studs to the floor. This is where the air compressor will live.

Had to build a little kick out to get the bench away from the big door.

I hope to finish all but skinning it with 3/4" stained maple sheet.

Cabinets looks great. How did you join the boards together? Are there any online guides or resources you used to learn how to build cabinets? I'd like to do something similar.

Here's a pic before I put the doors on. Basically I followed the instructions from this guy (http://www.twistedknotwoodshop.com/CabinetMaking101.htm) but I didn't build face frames. Instead, I went with a euro style look which is simpler in some ways but makes fitting into corners ten times harder.

What I learned is to build out from the corner to get square "corner" then build from that because the ceiling and walls won't be square especially in a garage.

The wall cabinets are basically just two 4 x 1 x 30 inch boxes with 2x1 boards holding the shelves up.

This was my first attempt at cabinets so they aren't perfect but they're pretty sturdy.

With the door shelves in the big tall cabinet I just built a frame being careful to make it perfectly straight. This was done using 1x4's and 1x2's mainly for the purpose of keeping the door from bowing out.

Also, never try to build a 7 foot tall plywood door unless you are okay with lots of hassle or just really really want the look.
