Hi All,

I have been a member here little more than a year, i kept myself very quiet but i do keep looking for idea and search for answer in the forum. I introduced myself in the "Introduce yourself here" when i first join. Little background of myself i live in HK and having village house here in HK. That mean i live far from City and have small garden. I had wall and roof put up in the garden to keep my cars from the sun. The following is the pictures i uploaded when i first join.

As Hong Kong is part of China now, i source almost all my equipments/tools from China. As it is cheaper and closer. I save hugh shipping from source oversea. I prefer tools/equipment that made in USA or Japan but money is a really issues for me as i am a married man with a wife and a daughter. I will try to be very careful when using that lift.

I have tried the operation of the lift but i have not use it yet as i don't have time to work on my car yet.

I post this thread to share with GJ and keep some motivation to myself to continue with my garage improvement. Comments are welcome:)

I think you have a very nice start, time to get some more tools to put into the box :) Looking forward to seeing some more of your projects.

Welcome. Looks like a great start for you. I'm curious about your floor because it is very nice. Is it terrazzo tile? Will it be strong enough to support the weight of your cars? I noticed cracks in a few of the tiles and wonder if that was caused by the cars or something else. You mention you put up a wall and roof over an existing patio so I assume the tile floor was already in place before enclosing your garage.

The reason for asking is that I am close to making a decision on a floor covering for my new garage and seeing your installation reminded me of the many garages and carports finished with terrazzo tile where I once lived in Puerto Rico.

Thanks for your comments. It is just a regular tile, it came with the house. The crack was there when I bought the house and it has extended a bit. The cracks are due to earth is not settle when they
pour the concrete. I have parked my cars on this floor for over 10 years and I used to use jack & stands preciously without problem. I do worry about the concrete floor so I put aluminium plate and under the lift to distribute the weight. I will be very caution with it.

Thanks for your quick reply. I was incorrect in describing the tile. Instead of terrazzo, I think it's called quarry tile. It seems to have held up well for you.

Today i have some time to test out my scissor lift with my car on it. And i am disappointed to find out there is an oil leak on the lift. This is a brand new lift. I already contacted the seller and wait for their instruction on how it shall be fix.

This is about the lift height i can get as my roof is quite low,

The oil leak is right below the oil release lever, it does leak out quite abit of oil. I did not have this oil leak when i tested it without a car on it.

Also my Amazon order arrived,

My quiet little compressor,

For leak, i am hoping to be a easy fix as i can not get it service in Hong Kong. I am waiting for the seller/factory to reply me on Monday with a solution on how to correct this leak.

I bought an engine lift/hoist about a month ago and finally have time to assemble it during the Easter weekend. It is always an issue with the instruction when buying stuff from China even those i can read but i still can not completely understand. So it is a little guessing work on assemble it but i did it.
attachment.php

attachment.php

It is assembled and i put a engine balance chain on the hook. I haven't try to lift an engine yet but i will be doing that soon.
attachment.php

I also re-route some the cable and socket in the garage as it was a mess. I can now use my smart socket to set timer and switch on/off on my phone (plus i can monitor its power consumption). But it is not done yet as i am waiting on a new socket to be arrive.

Last Sunday, replaced the leaking switch on the lift (it is a replacement switch i got from the manufacturer which included the o-ring) but they sent me a wrong switch. The switch button is too short so i can't use the lever to push again the button to lower the lift. I have put a coin between the lever and button to get it work. I am not sure if i will ask the manufacturer to send me a replacement switch again as it is quite troublesome.

I put my other car on the lift and do some tires swap and adjust the coilover little higher as it was little too low. It scrape everytime going in/out the garage.

As i start working on my cars in the garage, i found a lot of improvement need. Those blue plastic tray (50mm in height) i put on the floor to raise the car to clear the lift is start to break as may be to much for it. Also it is too wide to get into my way. I am ordering some smaller rubber mat (40mm in height) to replace it. Anyway it is still alot of work waiting for me to complete my dream garage.

Cool little space! I look forward to seeing how well you utilize it.

It is a mess on the other side which i am not showing. It is my goal to clear up and organize all my stuff. I hate seeing that mess.

You have already made it a dream garage.

Very very nice!

Thank you for sharing.

Bill

Thanks! Those cars in the photo are my dream car but the garage itself is not as it is quite messes.

Here are the messes (this area is around 10ft width and 18 ft deep),

Another update on my clean up,

I have replaced those blue plastic floor mat which i use to lift up car by 50mm to clear the lift. It was starting to sink and crack even those it was rated for 500kg. Also it was little big and making difficult to walk so replaced with smaller rubber mat. Hopefully it would last, hate buying thing that does not work.
attachment.php

I re-use that blue plastic floor mat plus few chains to hang it up as a roof shelf now. I really like it myself, the only thing i worry is the heat from the roof as it get very hot during the day.
attachment.php

I move out some of the stuff in that mess and put in a table that i no longer need in the house. Also lift it up abit but it still won't clear the engine that i wanted to put under the table.
attachment.php

So now i have a path to walk in and i need to start throw out some stuff to clear up the space as it is impossible to tidy up.
attachment.php

Enjoy!

My last post was 2 years ago,

I got an other car, a little convertible k-car from Japan as i wanted a convertible very badly. This little k-car fit into my garage perfectly. Also i cleaned up that mess to park the car, it is still very crowded.
attachment.php

attachment.php

Due to many different reason, i have been neglecting my garage and using it just as car park. The garage has deteriorate very much such as water leak and floor has crack extended and more crack. The crack is probably due to the soil settling below.
attachment.php

There is several thing i wanted to do,
- Dig a pit for the scissor lift (it has not been use year at least a year, as i just park car above it)
- lengthen the slop on the incline so my cars won't scratch the bottom / front lip)
attachment.php

- By do the above i kind of wanted to re-pour the cencrete in the part of the garage as crack develop.

As i have no experience in work with concrete but i will do more study on Garage Journal and see if it would DYI able.

Hello, I am curious where in HK you are located, there's not enough in the photos for me to guess. My wife and I travel there frequently, in fact we will be there again in April.
