my little mancave

New guy here….from VA. My wife and I just had a stick house built, and my mancave is a decent little 24X24. Little tight and by no means my dream garage (like some of yours on here :cheers:, but I’m making the most of what I have. First thing I did was to epoxy the floors, ‘cause I knew once I started moving everything in I’d never get it done. Here’s what I started with:

Got all the stuff under roof and slowly started getting it all put away. We need storage since we really don’t have an attic, so I started building shelving:

Then built a small workbench beside it:

Stayed that way for a month or so, then my wife bought me a compound miter saw for Christmas….and I got busy. I’m trying to make the best use of the wall space, so I built a shelf above the bench:

Then added some shelving on the other wall for some light storage:

Built some shelving above the header to utilize that space:

This past Friday my Jeep buddy/electrician came by and we started running some electric….I have a profound respect for electricity and don’t fool with it. We added two outlets at the workbench, each on their own breaker, and a couple outlets below the panel at the front of the garage. Next up is lighting.

LOL guys, thanks. Those are her hatboxes, and they are now officially famous (everyone on the couple Jeep boards I post on immediately comment on them, and I see GJ is no different)

Most all of the stuff on that back shelf is what's leftover from our move, we just need to go thru it all and figure out waht to do with it (I voted for dumpster food, but she disagrees......)

Your garage looks really good. I worked out of a 24x24 garage for many years and never got around to the level of organization that you have. It looks like you left room for some doors on the fronts of the shelving. If you cover the fronts they would become cabinets.

It's very rare to see hat boxes these days. It takes someone thats been around for a while to even recognize one. You must have a very classy lady for a wife.

I agree with you about messing with electric. My buddy also did me a solid and helped out big in my garage. He's also as **** about things as I am and over-engineered everything which I love. Just one (totally insignificant) thing is using metal face plates for your outlets; plastic just doesn't last in any of my work areas.

If you decide to further tinker with your electric, consider turning your outlets upside down so that the ground bar is up. That way if a metal object falls and partially dislodges one of your plugs, it will hit the ground bar and won't lay across the two prongs causing a short, sparks, and burning down your garage.

24x24 is plenty of garage (more than I've got). But you, sir, need to think about paint. You're doing too good a job to leave it at sheetrock and mud.

Paint is coming shortly, once I get the vertical compressor installed in the corner and run air lines. I purpousely did everything so far without paint to make it easier trying to figure out where all the studs were

Hey Jeff, Good idea on locating the studs. That will save you from filling holes when you are ready for paint.
