the previous homeowner thought it would be awesome to cover the entire garage in pegboard. a mechanic would love all the tool storage spots, but thats not me. i want my garage to look clean and simple. now my dilema: i dont know if i should cover the pegboard with drywall or maybe even paint it. paint might disguise that its wall to wall holes. suggestions...

A light colored wall will make the holes more noticeable.

Haha.. and to think, I've spent the last few weeks mulling over my options to put pegboard INTO my garage!!

I've been wanting it for a long time, just getting around to doing it. I just placed an order for a kit this morning and I will be making a post about it once it arrives.

I have pegboard on the knee walls upstairs in my detached.

I covered the beat up drywall in our attached with white slatwall from about waist high up. Looks clean, bright and still allows great storage possibilities. Takes lots of weight too if needed. From waist high down, I used that smooth coated board..might be called tileboard. It's a tight garage and I wanted nothing along the walls where the cars would park.

Several choices:
1) Agree..take it down and sell it on Craigslist.
2) Cover it with drywall
3) Cover it with slatwall
4) Paint it..if you do...use spray paint..not roller. Roller will leave paint in all the holes and look like ****.

Just had another idea after looking at your pic again. Consider painting the knee walls and then frame out the pegboard with some trimboard and paint the framing. That would be fairly cheap and easy to do and will give the whole wall a finished look. Then you can utilize the pegboard, but still have a nice looking garage. Just a thought...

I would just pull it down and not make a post about it? It's your garage, you have to work in it not us. If you don't like it, take it down. If you can use it, use it.

So, you will never use it? Get rid of it. Can you use it if it looked better? Well, I'd have to agree, don't paint it white. But, if you had a color scheme in mind, a soft medium color will mute the board and enhance what's on it.

not to mention if you roll it paint will accumilate in the holes and create drips everywhere......
