I've been looking at some of the really great work that folks have put into their spaces and it is inspiring.
The house is 37 years old and I have been repairing and replacing for the past 5 years since we bought it. Still working my way through the list.
Garage is 19' 6" x 20' 6" and sorry to say, but my garages never get a car in them. The garage is primarily used for woodworking projects, some wrenching on the motorcycles and generally escaping from the rest of the world.
Done in the garage so far:
First, Installed the beer fridge,
Removed water line (tapped from the Laundry with no shutoff),
Removed the plastic conduit power and light (tapped from the 240v in the Laundry),
Added a step in front of the door to the house (12-3/8" rise),
Added an automatic door closer to the house door,
Removed the wavy ceiling (1/2/ drywall on 24" OC Trusses),
Added 2x4s to the existing 2x4s on the roof line to create a 7'" cavity for insulation,
Insulated the ceiling with 6" of Glass - R20,
Added new power circuit for the garage,
Added a 4-way switch so that the lights are controlled at every door,
Added 7 new plugs (all GFCI protected)
Moved the GDO over to provide space for new lighting,
Removed 2 old florescent fixtures (2 x 4' bulbs each),
Added 6 new T8 florescent fixtures (2 x 4' bulbs each) so now @ 81 lumens per sq. ft.,
Installed Mr Heater 50,000 BTU Nat Gas heater (much better for the winters here).
Vapour barrier and Drywall on ceiling,
Added new cold water line with 2 taps plus shutoff inside the house,
Added a Cat 6 cable drop at the new workbench,
Added speaker cables in the walls,
Added telephone line,
Added Cable for television,
Remove the existing drywall,
Insulate the walls (R12),
Vapour barrier and Drywall on walls.
Paint (walls, ceiling, trusses),
Epoxy on the floor,
Added cabinets,
Added checker plate to walls.
It works a lot better now.
