Some of you may or may not know I'm going to school to be a tech some day and I am in the process of buying a lot of tools. I would prefer matco or snap on in lightly used if not new condition but beggers cant be choosers. Remember I can get my student discount, I'm just looking to see if I cant get some stuff cheaper. So heres what im looking for:

-1/2 torque wrench- prefer snap on to match my new 3/8 torque wrench
-12 inch or longer 1/2 drive ratchet, (flex head?)
-coolant pressure tester- with a few adapters
-1/4 inch drive metric swivel sockets, probably 5.5-13mm
-good size torx bit set
-90 degree die heavy duty die grinder
-1/4 inch air ratchet
-3/8 air ratchet
-air hammer

Let me know what you got, thanks guys.

Hey there, I'm a student too. Lets try not to put our fellow members' noses into our student discounts though. The tool companies provide these discounts to develop brand loyalty, and I'd hate the for the discounts to cause resentment in the tool company's bread and butter business: working techs. Just my .02.

Try searching ebay and craigslist. I am a student as well, and I have found plenty of deals that were better than the discount.

You can usually do much better than 50% off on basic stuff like combination wrenches and socket sets on ebay.
Newer ratchets and some other specialty tools are harder to get that much of a price break.

Point is... I quietly compare the prices of used tools to my student discount prices. I would never, ever come back to a seller and tell them "I can get that tool for $X". Thats all I was trying to convey. Didn't mean to offend anyone. Also, as a matter of point, I've been trying to spread my student discount around to each of the tool companies. This way, I figure I can support each of the US tool manufacturers. I'm not a tool snob, not a brand snob.

Man I'm in the same boat but its just hard to beat that snap on discount. Most stuff even used is higher than what we can get it at and someone will still be tickled to death to buy there stuff at 40 percent off. The best luck I've had is ebay and buying tools in lots and piecing together your sets, takes a little time and order but its fun and can be done pretty cheap.
